Energy-efficient variable speed pool filtration — whisper quiet, Bluetooth controlled, and programmable from your phone.
The Davey ProMaster is a premium variable speed pool pump available in two models — PM200BT and PM400BT. Both are Bluetooth enabled for iOS and Android smartphone control, rated down to 50dBa for super quiet operation, and built with a water-cooled motor for efficient year-round performance. Select your model using the dropdown above.
The PM400BT adds a weatherproof RJ45 communication port for connection to external pool controllers, gas heaters, and heat pumps. It carries an energy rating of 6.0 stars versus 5.0 stars on the PM200BT.
Both models are suited to pool filtration, in-floor cleaning systems, and connection to heat pumps and gas heaters.
Which model do I need?
| Model | Max power | Speed range | Energy rating | Guideline pool size | RJ45 port |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| PM200BT | 1.48hp / 1,111W | 1,500–3,600rpm | 5.0 stars | Up to 70,000L | No |
| PM400BT | 2.19hp / 1,639W | 1,050–3,100rpm | 6.0 stars | Up to 110,000L | Yes |
Pool size figures are guidelines only and are climate dependent. Always match the pump's flow output to your pool filter's rated capacity — running a pump that overpowers the filter reduces filtration effectiveness. Get in touch if you'd like help sizing.

How it works
The ProMaster uses a fully variable frequency drive with a user-selectable speed dial (positions 1–10). Lower speeds use significantly less energy — at Dial 1 both models draw around 126–128W. At full speed (Dial 10) the PM200BT draws 1,111W and the PM400BT draws 1,639W. Running at lower speeds for longer periods turns over the same volume of pool water at a lower energy cost.
The Bluetooth-connected app lets you set speed dial positions, schedule operation, and configure boost cycles. The constant flow compensation feature automatically increases speed as filter pressure rises — useful as debris accumulates between backwashes.
The backwash speed cycling feature alternates the pump between low and high speeds during backwash to agitate the filter media more effectively. The 2-minute auto shut-off prevents the pump from being left running on backwash accidentally.

Frequently asked questions
Which model is right for my pool?
The PM200BT suits pools up to approximately 70,000 litres and is the better choice for straightforward pool filtration with Bluetooth scheduling. The PM400BT suits larger pools up to approximately 110,000 litres and adds a weatherproof RJ45 port for integration with external pool controllers, gas heaters, and heat pumps. These are guideline figures — climate and bather load affect the right choice. Get in touch if you'd like help sizing.
What's the difference between the PM200BT and the PM400BT?
The PM400BT has a higher maximum output (2.19hp vs 1.48hp), a higher energy star rating (6.0 vs 5.0 stars), and a lower minimum speed (1,050rpm vs 1,500rpm). It also includes a weatherproof RJ45 communication port for connecting to external pool controllers, gas heaters, and heat pumps — the PM200BT does not have this port.
What does the variable speed dial do?
The ProMaster has 10 speed dial positions. Lower positions draw less power — useful for overnight filtration when you want efficient turnover at lower cost. Higher positions deliver more flow for surface skimming, backwashing, or in-floor cleaning. The constant flow compensation feature automatically adjusts speed as filter resistance increases.
Will it work with my pool filter?
Yes, provided you match the pump's flow output to your filter's rated capacity. Running a pump that overpowers the filter reduces filtration effectiveness. If you're replacing an existing pump, choosing a similar output model is a reliable starting point. Get in touch if you'd like help matching pump to filter.
What does the boost cycling feature do?
Boost cycling runs the pump at full speed for a set time each hour — useful for improving surface skimming and for in-floor or pop-up cleaning systems that need periodic high-flow operation.
What does constant flow compensation do?
As debris builds up in the filter, resistance increases and flow naturally drops. Constant flow compensation automatically increases the pump speed to maintain consistent circulation — keeping the pool turning over as expected without manual adjustment.
How does the backwash cycling work?
The ProMaster runs the pump alternately at low and high speed during backwash to agitate the filter media more effectively. A 2-minute auto shut-off prevents the pump from being accidentally left on backwash, which would drain pool water.
Is it suitable for in-floor and pop-up cleaning systems?
Yes. The ProMaster is specifically suited to in-floor and pop-up cleaning systems. The programmable boost cycling feature runs the pump at full speed for a set duration each hour to support these systems.
Can I install it myself?
For a like-for-like pool pump replacement, a confident installer can usually manage the swap. For a new installation or where plumbing changes are needed, a pool technician is recommended. Get in touch if you'd like guidance before starting.
What warranty applies?
The Davey ProMaster carries a 3-year warranty on both models.
