The Davey CrystalClear ER Series is a premium fibreglass media filter designed for in-ground and above-ground residential swimming pools.

Its seamless one-piece fibreglass tank uses precision filament-wound construction for strength and durability. Inside the filter, Davey’s specially designed fish-tail laterals improve hydraulic efficiency, helping reduce the water and energy required during backwashing.

The range is suitable for fresh water, salt water and mineral salt pools, with five models available from 24" through to 36". Depending on model, maximum filtration flow ranges from 226 to 509 L/min.

Each model is supplied as a tank and multiport valve kit.

Filter media is not included. Sand, Zelbrite or glass media must be purchased separately.

How It Works

Pool water is pumped through the filter and distributed through the selected filtration media.

The media captures suspended debris before the filtered water returns to the pool.

As debris builds up in the media bed, filter resistance increases. The multiport valve allows the system to be switched into backwash mode, reversing water flow through the media and flushing trapped material to waste.

Davey’s fish-tail lateral system is designed to improve hydraulic performance during this process. The lower backwash flow requirement can reduce water use and allow more efficient pumping compared with a conventional higher-flow backwash design.

The built-in sight glass lets you see the discharge water during backwashing, while the liquid-filled pressure gauge helps indicate when the filter requires cleaning.

Allow sufficient space around the filter for valve operation, plumbing, backwashing and future servicing.

Choosing the Correct Model

Filter selection should consider more than pool volume.

The filter must also be matched to:

  • Pump flow rate
  • Plumbing size
  • Required pool turnover
  • Available installation space
  • Required backwash flow
  • Maximum system pressure

The DCM2440 and DCM2450 use the same 24" filter size and filtration capacity. The key difference is connection size:

  • DCM2440: 40 mm
  • DCM2450: 50 mm

The larger 28", 32" and 36" models provide progressively greater filtration area and flow capacity.

Installation

Install the CrystalClear ER on a firm, level base with sufficient access for the multiport valve and future servicing.

Connection size depends on model:

The pool pump and plumbing system should be matched to the selected filter's operating flow and pressure limits.

Filter media must be added separately during installation. It is not supplied with the filter.

Maintenance

Monitor the pressure gauge during normal operation.

As dirt accumulates within the media bed, pressure and resistance through the filter increase. Backwash the filter when required using the 6-way multiport valve.

The integrated waste sight glass allows the discharge water to be monitored during the backwash cycle.

Follow the correct backwash and rinse sequence before returning the valve to normal filtration.

Filter media should also be inspected and replaced when its condition or filtration performance requires it.
