The Davey EcoPure is an economical fibreglass media filter designed for residential swimming pools, swim spas and plunge pools.
Its UV-stabilised, bobbin-wound fibreglass tank provides corrosion-resistant construction, while the large filtration area and media capacity support efficient pool filtration with less frequent backwashing.
The range includes four models from 21" to 40", with maximum filtration flow rates from 185 to 650 L/min. EcoPure filters are suitable for fresh water, salt water and mineral salt pools.
Each model is supplied as a tank and multiport valve kit.
Filter media is not included. Sand, Zelbrite or glass media must be purchased separately.

How It Works
Pool water is pumped into the EcoPure filter and passes through the selected filtration media.
Suspended debris is trapped within the media before filtered water returns to the pool. The large surface-area lateral underdrain distributes water through the tank and supports high filtration flow and efficient backwashing.
As debris builds up, resistance through the media increases. The pressure gauge helps indicate when backwashing is required.
The 6-way multiport valve is then used to reverse the water flow through the media bed, flushing accumulated dirt to waste. The integrated sight glass allows the discharged water to be monitored during the cleaning cycle.

Choosing the Correct Model

The DEP2140 and DEP2540 use 40 mm valve connections.

The DEP4050 has a significantly higher minimum backwash requirement of 433 L/min, so the pump and plumbing system must be capable of delivering adequate flow during backwashing.
Multiport Valve
The EcoPure uses a 6-way multiport valve for filter operation and maintenance.
The valve system includes:
- Integrated waste-port sight glass
- Oil-filled stainless steel pressure gauge
The sight glass helps monitor discharge water during backwashing, while the pressure gauge allows increasing filter resistance to be identified.
Installation
Install the filter on a solid, level base with enough surrounding clearance for servicing and valve operation.
Connection size varies by model:

The filter, pump and plumbing should be matched so the filter's maximum flow and pressure limits are not exceeded.

Maintenance
EcoPure media filters require routine backwashing as debris accumulates within the filter media.
Monitor the pressure gauge during normal filtration. When increased resistance indicates the media requires cleaning, use the multiport valve to backwash the filter.
The sight glass allows the discharge water to be monitored during the backwash process.
After backwashing, follow the correct rinse procedure before returning the valve to normal filtration.
Media condition should be checked periodically and replaced when required.
