The Davey Torrium2 is an intelligent pump controller that switches your pump on when water is needed and off when demand drops — delivering constant flow and even pressure without cycling. It senses pressure and flow simultaneously, cutting in when pressure drops to 80% of the pump's last shut-off pressure and stopping when flow falls to approximately 1 lpm.
Multiple protection layers are built in: dry run detection with automatic retry, high water temperature cut-out, excessive current protection, and surge protection via a metal oxide varistor. The Torrium2 also distinguishes between genuine demand and small leaks — reducing unnecessary cycling caused by dripping taps or leaking cisterns.
Available in four variants across two pressure ranges and two installation types. Select from the dropdown.
Tested in compliance with AS/NZS 4020 for use in contact with safe drinking water. Manufactured under ISO 9001 quality management and ISO 14001 environmental management systems.

Choosing your variant
There are two things to choose: pressure range and installation type.
Step 1 — Choose your pressure range
TT45 / TT45/S — for pumps with a shut-off head of 150 to 450 kPa
Suits: HP Series, HM60-06T, HM90-08T, HM160-15T, XJ50T, XJ90T, and other lower to mid-pressure pumps.
TT70 / TT70/S — for pumps with a shut-off head of 450 to 700 kPa
Suits: HS Series, HM60-08T, HM60-10T, HM90-11T, HM90-13T, HM160-19T, XJ70T, and other higher-pressure pumps.
If you're unsure which pressure range suits your pump, check the pump's nominal operating pressure or shut-off head — or get in touch and we'll match it for you.
Step 2 — Choose your installation type
Pre-wired (TT45 / TT70): Supplied with a 2-metre power lead and standard 3-pin plug. Connect the pump motor wiring directly to the Torrium2 using the terminals inside. Suited to customers wiring the controller directly to the pump at installation.
Plug and Play (TT45/S / TT70/S): Supplied with a 2-metre lead fitted with both a male and female 3-pin plug. The female plug connects to the pump's existing power lead; the male plug goes to the wall socket. No wiring required — install inline between the pump and the power outlet.

How it works
The Torrium2 uses pressure and flow sensors to monitor the system continuously. When you open a tap, pressure drops. The Torrium2 detects this and starts the pump immediately — cutting in at 80% of the previous shut-off pressure. When you close the tap, flow drops to approximately 1 lpm and the Torrium2 stops the pump.
For very small flows (dripping taps, leaking cisterns), the Torrium2 reduces its cut-in pressure to as low as 50% of last shut-off head, minimising unnecessary starts. When genuine demand resumes above 0.5 lpm, it returns to normal operation.
The spring-loaded built-in accumulator provides a small draw-off buffer to smooth minor fluctuations. For higher draw-off capacity, an optional pressure tank (up to 18L) can be mounted on the vertical outlet.
If the pump loses prime, the Torrium2 shuts it down and automatically retries at escalating intervals — starting at 5 minutes and extending to 32 hours. This reduces downtime while protecting the pump from sustained dry running.

FAQ
What does the Torrium2 do in plain English?
It replaces the simple on/off pressure switch on your pump with an intelligent controller. It starts the pump when you open a tap and stops it when you close it — without the cycling and pressure fluctuations a basic pressure switch causes. It also protects the pump from dry running, overheating, and electrical faults.
What's the difference between the TT45 and TT70?
Both have identical features and specifications. The only difference is the recommended pump shut-off head range — TT45 is for lower-pressure pumps (150–450 kPa), TT70 is for higher-pressure pumps (450–700 kPa). Match the Torrium2 to your pump's shut-off head. If you're unsure, get in touch.
What's the difference between pre-wired (TT45/TT70) and plug and play (TT45/S, TT70/S)?
Pre-wired models are designed for direct electrical connection to the pump motor wiring at installation — they come with a standard 3-pin plug for the wall and a wiring chamber for the pump motor connection. Plug and play models have both a male and female 3-pin plug, so you can connect them inline between the pump's existing power lead and the wall socket — no wiring required.
What does dry run protection do?
If the pump loses its water supply and runs dry, the Torrium2 shuts it down to prevent damage. It then automatically retries at escalating intervals: 5 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2, 4, 8, 16, and 32 hours. If mains pressure returns during a pressure boosting application, the Torrium2 will also detect this and restart.
What happens if there's a power surge?
The built-in metal oxide varistor (MOV) absorbs surges and spikes to protect the controller's electronics. The MOV is a sacrificial component — if consumed by repeated surges, it will blacken the viewing port on the back of the unit. A blackened viewing port indicates a non-warrantable failure caused by power events.
What are the LED indicators for?
Red = system in standby. Green = pump running. Yellow = fault condition. The yellow LED comes on when the Torrium2 has detected a fault — dry run, over-temperature, or excessive current.
Can I install it myself?
The plug and play models (TT45/S, TT70/S) are straightforward to install inline — no wiring required. The pre-wired models require connecting the pump motor wiring to the Torrium2's terminal block. If you're not comfortable with electrical wiring, have a licensed electrician or plumber do this.
Do I need a pressure vessel?
Not for standard installations. The Torrium2 has a built-in spring-loaded accumulator that handles minor fluctuations and reduces cycling. For installations with higher draw-off requirements, an optional pressure tank of up to 18L can be mounted on the vertical outlet.
Is it suitable for outdoor installation?
Yes — IP56 rated for dust-tight and water-jet resistant operation. Suitable for typical outdoor pump shed and exposed installations.
What warranty applies?
2 years, backed by Davey's NZ dealer network.
