The Davey XJ Series with Torrium2 controller is a single-stage jet-assisted pressure pump designed to draw water from sources below the pump — wells, tanks, creeks, rivers, and sand spears — and deliver consistent household pressure without cycling.

The jet-assist design gives the XJ a maximum suction head of 7m, making it the right choice when the water source is located below the pump installation point. The Torrium2 controller adapts pump output continuously to maintain constant flow, provides loss of prime protection, and eliminates the pressure variations of conventional on/off cycling.

The discharge outlet rotates a full 360° and can connect vertically or at right angles — useful where space is limited or plumbing direction is fixed. A spanner is included. An optional pressure tank (up to 18L) can be mounted on the vertical outlet for increased draw-off capacity.

Available in three models — XJ50T, XJ70T, and XJ90T. Select your model from the dropdown.

Tested in compliance with AS/NZS 4020 for use in contact with safe drinking water. Manufactured under ISO 9001 quality management and ISO 14001 environmental management systems.

Supplied with a 2-metre power lead and standard NZ 3-pin plug. Professional installation by a licensed plumber is recommended.

Important: the XJ Series is designed for low-pressure water sources (wells, tanks, and similar). For mains or municipal water supplies where line pressure exceeds 100 kPa, a break tank system is required, or use a Davey HS Series pump instead. All applicable local plumbing code requirements must be followed.

How it works

The XJ Series uses a single-stage centrifugal pump with a closed vane impeller and jet assist. The jet venturi creates a low-pressure zone at the suction inlet that allows the pump to draw water from sources up to 7m below the pump body — further than a standard centrifugal pump can achieve without priming assistance.

The Torrium2 controller monitors pressure continuously and adapts pump output to match demand. No cycling, no pressure surges — just consistent flow at every outlet.

Suitable for: household and domestic water supply, irrigation from shallow wells or sand spears, overhead or high tank filling, and general water transfer.

FAQ

What makes the XJ Series different from other Davey pumps?

The jet-assist mechanism allows the pump to draw water from sources up to 7m below the pump — significantly more than a standard centrifugal pump. This makes it the right choice for shallow wells, sand spears, low-set tanks, and surface water sources. If your water source is at or above pump level, the HS or HM Series may be better suited.

Can I use it with a mains water supply?

The XJ Series is designed for low-pressure water sources. If connected to mains or municipal water supplies where line pressure exceeds 100 kPa, a break tank system is required. For direct mains connection, use a Davey HS Series pump instead. All applicable local plumbing code requirements must be followed.

How deep can it draw water from?

The maximum suction head is 7m. For installations with suction lift, a good quality foot valve is required, and the in-built check valve should be removed.

What does the Torrium2 controller do?

It monitors system pressure and adapts pump output continuously to maintain constant flow — no cycling, no pressure spikes, and built-in loss of prime protection. If the pump runs dry, the Torrium2 shuts it down to prevent damage.

Can I add a pressure tank?

Yes. An optional pressure tank (up to 18L) can be mounted on the vertical discharge outlet to increase draw-off capacity. The tank is available separately.

How does the 360° discharge outlet help?

It means the plumbing can connect vertically or at right angles to the pump, and the outlet can rotate to align with your pipework without needing additional fittings. Useful where space is limited or where the pipe direction is fixed.

Do I need a plumber to install it?

Professional installation by a licensed plumber is recommended. If connecting to mains water, local plumbing code requirements apply — check with your plumber before installation.

Can I pair it with a water filter?

Yes. A whole-house filter installed upstream protects the pump from sediment and extends its service life. Get in touch for filter recommendations suited to your water source.

What warranty applies?

2 years, backed by Davey's NZ dealer network.
