UV lamp specification

Both the Davey and Waimana kits include the same 46W UV lamp (RL6 compatible), which is the correct replacement lamp for the Puretec Hybrid G8, G9, G12, and G13. Replace the lamp on schedule — UV output decreases over time even when the lamp is still lit, which is why the system beeps to alert you.

How often to replace

Replace the full kit every 12 months as a minimum. The UV lamp alert on your Puretec system is your primary reminder — when it sounds, replace the lamp and filters together. Replacing filters at the same time as the lamp ensures all stages are fresh and working together.

Which kit do I need?

Check the model number printed on the silver cover of your Puretec system — it will show G8, G9, G12, or G13. Select that model from the first dropdown. Then choose Davey for premium certified filters or Waimana for reliable value performance.

What's the difference between Davey and Waimana?

Both kits include the same UV lamp and the same cartridge configuration for your system. The difference is the filter brand. Davey filters are our premium, certified option — we're Davey Master Dealers. Waimana is our value cartridge — solid quality at a lower price point. The right choice depends on your priorities and budget.

Why do I need to replace the filters when the lamp beeps?

The beep tells you the lamp has reached the end of its effective UV life. At that point, replacing the lamp alone leaves you with filters that may also be exhausted — sediment or carbon filters that are loaded up but not flagging a warning. Replacing everything together ensures the full system is fresh and performing correctly.

What does the UV lamp actually do?

The UV lamp treats water flowing through the chamber against bacteria, viruses, and microbes without chemicals. After 12 months of operation the UV output drops below the level needed for effective treatment — even if the lamp is still visibly lit. That's why the system alerts you.

Will the lamp fit my system?

The 46W RL6 compatible lamp fits the Puretec Hybrid G8, G9, G12, and G13. If you have a different Puretec model, get in touch and we'll confirm the correct replacement before you order.

Can I replace just the lamp without the filters?

You can, but we don't recommend it. Filter cartridges typically need replacing on the same 12-month cycle as the lamp. Replacing the lamp without the filters leaves you with degraded filtration even though the UV treatment is restored.

What warranty applies?

12 months on the UV lamp. Filter cartridges are consumables and don't carry a standard product warranty. If you receive any item that is visibly damaged or defective on arrival, get in touch and we'll sort it out.
