The Pentair 10" Jumbo Polypleated Sediment Filter is made from durable pleated polyester. Its pleated construction provides a large filtration surface area, allowing the cartridge to hold more sediment before restriction while maintaining good water flow as sediment builds up.

Unlike disposable sediment cartridges, the filter can be removed, rinsed clean and reused, making it an excellent option for water supplies with regular sediment loading.

Which Micron Rating Should I Choose?

As a general rule, use coarser filtration upstream and finer filtration downstream.

For a two-stage system, a common setup is:

20 or 50 Micron → 1 or 5 Micron

The first cartridge captures larger sediment before the second cartridge provides finer filtration.

If you have a particularly high sediment load, starting with a 50 micron cartridge can help prevent the finer downstream filter from loading too quickly.

Washable & Reusable

One of the major advantages of this cartridge is that it can be washed and reused.

When the cartridge becomes visibly dirty or water flow begins to reduce:

1. Turn off the water supply.
2. Release pressure from the filter housing.
3. Remove the housing sump.
4. Remove the cartridge.
5. Rinse sediment from the pleated media using clean water.
6. Reinstall the cartridge.
7. Reassemble the housing and restore the water supply.
8. Check for leaks.

The number of times the cartridge can be successfully cleaned depends on your incoming water quality and the type of sediment being captured.

Fine silt can become embedded more deeply within the pleats than larger particles such as sand.

Replace the cartridge when cleaning no longer restores adequate flow or when the polyester media becomes degraded or damaged.

Using It Before a UV System
