This 20 micron pleated cartridge removes coarse sediment, dirt, rust, sand, and leaf matter from your water supply before it reaches finer downstream filters. The pleated design offers a larger surface area than a flat filter — catching more sediment while maintaining good flow and pressure. Cleanable and reusable, extending its service life before replacement is needed.

Fits most 10" Jumbo housings (10" x 4.5" cartridge) and 20" Jumbo housings (20" x 4.5" cartridge) — including Davey, Pentair, Puretec, Trevoli, and most other major brands. Jumbo housings take a 4.5" diameter cartridge. If you're unsure whether your housing is Jumbo or Standard, measure the cartridge diameter — Jumbo is 4.5", Standard is 2.5".

How to Clean and Reuse

This cartridge is cleanable and reusable. When flow rate drops noticeably, clean before replacing:

1. Shut off the water supply and release housing pressure
2. Remove the cartridge from the housing
3. Rinse under a tap or gently hose off visible sediment — work from the inside out
4. For stubborn deposits, soak briefly in a dilute cleaning solution appropriate to the contamination, then rinse thoroughly
5. Sterilise with a dilute bleach solution before reinstalling
6. Reinstall and restore water supply

Replace the cartridge when cleaning no longer restores adequate flow, or at least every 12 months regardless of condition.

Does this cartridge protect against bacteria or cysts?

No. At 20 microns this is a coarse sediment filter — it removes dirt, rust, sand, and leaf matter. For bacteria and virus protection, UV disinfection is required. For cyst protection (Giardia, Cryptosporidium), 1 micron filtration is required downstream of this stage.
