How it works
Stage 1 — Sediment and Carbon Pre-Filter
Water first passes through sediment filtration to remove particles, rust, and silt, then through an activated carbon stage (1000 iodine value) to reduce chlorine, chemicals, taste, and odour. This stage protects the RO membrane downstream and improves taste immediately.
Stage 2 — Reverse Osmosis Membrane (0.0001 micron, 800 GPD)
Water is forced through a semi-permeable membrane at 0.0001 micron. At this scale, dissolved contaminants — including fluoride, nitrates, heavy metals, bacteria, viruses, PFAS, pharmaceuticals, and cysts — are removed. NSF 58 and 61 certified.
Stage 3 — Mineral Enhancement and Carbon Polish
Water passes through a natural mineral stone stage that reintroduces essential minerals, raises the pH to alkaline, and improves taste and mouthfeel. A final carbon polish removes any remaining taste or odour before the water reaches your tap.
Smart Monitoring
The built-in display tracks TDS (total dissolved solids) and filter life in real time. The system also performs automatic flushing to maintain RO membrane performance. The display is powered by a 4500mAh rechargeable battery — charge via USB-C approximately once every 8 months.
The system produces approximately 4 litres of wastewater for every 1 litre of filtered water — this is standard for RO technology.
Why remineralisation matters
Reverse osmosis removes up to 99% of dissolved solids — including both harmful contaminants and beneficial minerals like calcium and magnesium. The RO Mineral+ addresses this with a post-filtration stage containing 100% natural minerals that reintroduces beneficial trace elements, raises pH to alkaline, and improves the natural taste and mouthfeel of the water. No separate remineralisation step or product is required.
Certifications
Carbon block: Certified by IAPMO R&T to NSF/ANSI 42 (aesthetic effects — taste, odour, chlorine) and NSF/ANSI 53 (health effects — specific contaminant reduction).
RO membrane: NSF 58 certified (RO membrane systems — contaminant reduction) and NSF 61 certified (drinking water system components — material safety).
System: CE, RoHS, EMC certified.
Maintenance
- Stage 1 and Stage 3 filters: replace every 12 months
- Stage 2 RO membrane: replace every 24 months
Quick-change cartridges — replace the internal filter only, the outer casing is reused. Smart alerts notify you when it's time. An optional subscription delivers replacement filters automatically.

Frequently asked questions
Is the RO Mineral+ right for my home?
It's designed for anyone who wants deeply purified, mineralised drinking water at the kitchen tap — particularly homes on mains supplies where fluoride, nitrates, or PFAS are a concern. It treats water at the point of use, so you're only purifying what you drink and cook with rather than the whole house. If you want filtered water at every tap, a whole-house system is the better fit — get in touch and we'll help you choose.
What contaminants does it remove?
The RO membrane is certified to NSF 58 and removes up to 99% of dissolved solids. This includes fluoride, nitrates, heavy metals, PFAS, E.coli, bacteria, viruses, Giardia, pharmaceuticals, micro and nano plastics, and cysts.
Why does it need remineralisation?
Reverse osmosis removes nearly everything from the water — including beneficial minerals like calcium and magnesium. Without remineralisation, RO water can taste flat and is demineralised. The Stage 3 natural mineral stone restores essential minerals and raises pH to alkaline, so the water tastes balanced and doesn't require any additional treatment.
What is the 4:1 wastewater ratio?
For every litre of filtered water the system produces, approximately 4 litres of water go to drain as wastewater. This is standard for RO technology. The system includes automatic flushing which maintains membrane performance but also contributes to wastewater. For most households this is an acceptable trade-off for the level of purification RO delivers.
Does it need a constant power supply?
No — the smart display and automatic flushing are powered by a 4500mAh internal battery charged via USB-C. A single charge lasts approximately 8 months. The filtration itself runs on mains water pressure — no pump or power connection required for water flow.
Does it need to be installed by a plumber?
The system connects to your cold water supply under the sink and the tap requires installation through your benchtop. For most customers a plumber is the recommended option. Fixed-rate installation is available in Canterbury and Auckland — get in touch for details. If you're confident with this style of plumbing, the installation is straightforward.
How is RO different from the UFX3 ultra-filtration system?
The UFX3 uses ultra-filtration (0.01 micron) which removes bacteria, cysts, and particulates while retaining minerals. The RO Mineral+ uses reverse osmosis (0.0001 micron) which removes virtually everything including dissolved solids like fluoride and nitrates — then adds minerals back via the remineralisation stage. RO is the right choice when fluoride, nitrate, or dissolved solid reduction is the priority.
What certifications does it carry?
The carbon block is certified by IAPMO R&T to NSF/ANSI 42 and 53. The RO membrane carries NSF 58 and 61 certification. The system is CE, RoHS, and EMC certified.
What warranty and returns policy apply?
2-year manufacturer warranty covering manufacturing and material faults under normal use. 30-day money back guarantee — return within 30 days for a full refund if you're not satisfied.
