Complete whole house filtration and UV treatment for tank and bore water — in one bundle. The Waiora Clarity III handles three stages of filtration covering coarse sediment, taste and odour, and fine sediment, and the Waimana UV 33W unit treats water against bacteria, viruses, and microbes as it flows through. Together they cover the full treatment sequence from coarse particles through to microbiological treatment.

The UV unit's flow-activated design means the lamp only runs when water is moving — no power wasted, no water warming in the chamber between uses.

Suited to smaller New Zealand homes on tank or rainwater supply where sediment, taste, and odour are all concerns. Note: bore water quality varies significantly — we recommend testing your bore water before purchasing to ensure this configuration suits your supply. Get in touch and we'll help.

Ships as two separate items: the Clarity III filter system and the UV 33W unit arrive independently.

What's in the bundle

Waiora Clarity III — 10 Inch 3-Stage Whole House Filter

  • Stage 1: 20 micron polypleated sediment filter (10" jumbo) — removes coarse sediment, silt, and particles
  • Stage 2: 5 micron carbon block filter (10" jumbo) — reduces chlorine, taste, and odour
  • Stage 3: 1 micron polyspun fine sediment filter (10" jumbo) — removes fine particles and physically blocks Giardia cysts
  • 10" jumbo housings with stainless threaded 25mm BSP ports
  • Powder-coated steel bracket (stainless upgrade available)
  • Housing spanner included
  • 3-year warranty

Waimana UV 33W — Flow-Activated UV Unit

  • 33W UV chamber with integrated flow switch
  • UV dose: 30 mJ/cm² at 30 L/min
  • Treats water against bacteria, viruses, and microbes without chemicals
  • Flow-activated — lamp runs only when water is flowing
  • Connection: 25mm BSP
  • Includes: UV lamp, quartz sleeve, ballast, flow switch, spring, O-rings
  • 3-year warranty

How the system works together

Stage 1 — Coarse Sediment (Clarity III)

The 20 micron polypleated filter removes larger particles, silt, and organic matter. Cleanable and reusable — rinse between replacements.

Stage 2 — Carbon Block (Clarity III)

The 5 micron carbon block reduces chlorine, taste, and odour — particularly relevant for bore water where earthy or mineral tastes are common, and for tank water where organic compounds from the catchment area can affect flavour.

Stage 3 — Fine Sediment (Clarity III)

The 1 micron polyspun filter removes fine particles and physically blocks Giardia cysts. Clear water at this stage is essential for effective UV treatment downstream.

Stage 4 — UV Treatment (UV 33W)

Water flows through the UV chamber where the 33W lamp treats it against bacteria, viruses, and microbes at a dose of 30 mJ/cm². The flow switch activates the lamp automatically when water moves and shuts it off when flow stops.

The sequence matters — three stages of filtration ensure clear water enters the UV chamber, which is what makes UV treatment effective.

Why Clarity III over Clarity II

The Clarity III adds a 5 micron carbon block between the two sediment stages. This addresses taste and odour — relevant for bore water with earthy or mineral characteristics, and for tank water where organic matter from the roof catchment affects flavour. If taste and odour are a concern in addition to sediment, the Clarity III is the right choice.

A note on bore water

Bore water quality varies significantly from site to site. We recommend having your bore water tested before selecting a filtration system — the mineral content, bacterial load, and other characteristics of your bore will determine whether this configuration is appropriate or whether additional stages are needed. Get in touch and we'll help you interpret the results.

Maintenance

Clarity III cartridges: replace every 6–12 months. The Stage 1 polypleated cartridge can be rinsed and reused between replacements. The carbon block's clearest signal is a return of taste and odour — replace when taste returns even if flow rate is still good.

UV lamp: replace based on usage. UV output degrades before the lamp visibly fails — replace on schedule and clean the quartz sleeve at each lamp change.

Frequently asked questions

Why do I need both filtration and UV?

Filtration removes sediment, taste, and odour. UV treats water against bacteria, viruses, and microbes. They address different things — filtration alone does not treat microbiological contamination, and UV alone cannot work effectively if the water contains sediment or turbidity. Together they provide comprehensive whole house treatment for tank and bore water.

Why choose the Clarity III over the Clarity II bundle?

The Clarity III adds a carbon block stage that reduces taste and odour. If your water has an earthy, mineral, or chemical taste — common in bore water and some tank water supplies — the Clarity III addresses this in addition to sediment removal. If sediment only is the concern, the Clarity II bundle is sufficient.

Why does the order matter?

UV treatment requires clear water. If sediment reaches the UV chamber, it blocks the UV light from reaching micro-organisms — reducing or eliminating treatment effectiveness. The Clarity III's three filtration stages ensure clean, clear water arrives at the UV chamber every time.

Does the 1 micron filter remove Giardia?

At 1 micron, the polyspun filter physically blocks Giardia cysts, which are typically 8–12 microns in size. UV treatment provides an additional layer of protection against microbiological contamination.

Is this suitable for bore water?

It can be, but bore water varies significantly from site to site. We recommend testing your bore water before ordering — get in touch and we'll help you confirm this is the right configuration for your supply.

Do the two items need to be installed at the same time?

They can be installed together or separately. The Clarity III filter system is installed upstream and the UV unit downstream — the UV unit should always be the last stage before water enters the home.

Do I need a plumber to install it?

We recommend a licensed plumber for both components. The Clarity III uses standard 25mm BSP fittings and arrives pre-assembled with a housing spanner. The UV unit uses 25mm BSP and plugs into a standard 240V outlet.

What warranty applies?

Both items carry a 3-year manufacturer's warranty. Filter cartridges and the UV lamp are consumables and are not covered.
