If your home runs on rainwater, bore water, or a rural supply, UV treatment is the most reliable way to protect against harmful micro-organisms. The Waiora Pure III combines three stages of filtration with a 33W UV chamber in a single compact system — and only runs the UV when water is actually flowing.

That last part matters. The integrated flow switch activates the UV chamber when water moves and shuts it off when it stops. No water sitting in a lit chamber, no unnecessary power use, no warmth building up in the line. You get fresh, UV-treated water on demand, every time.

The Pure III adds a carbon block stage to the sediment filtration of the Pure II — tackling the organic tastes and odours that sediment filters alone leave behind. It's designed for medium New Zealand households of 3 to 4 people. It arrives wall-mounted on a bracket, ready to install. Connection is 25mm BSP. The UV lamp and all three filter cartridges are included in the box.

Why Kiwi homeowners choose the Pure III

  • Flow-activated UV — only runs when water moves, saving power and extending lamp life
  • Prevents water warming in the chamber during no-flow periods
  • Carbon block stage removes organic tastes and odours that sediment filters don't address
  • Three filtration stages prepare water for UV treatment — clear water means effective UV
  • Chemical-free treatment — no dosing, no additives
  • Compact wall-mounted design — suits medium homes and tight utility spaces
  • Everything included — lamp, ballast, cartridges, flow switch, and hardware in the box

How it works

Stage 1 — Coarse Sediment

The 20 micron polypleated filter catches the larger particles — dirt, debris, and organic matter. Starting coarse protects the stages downstream and the UV chamber from premature loading.

Stage 2 — Fine Sediment

The 1 micron polyspun filter removes the finer silt and particles. By the time water reaches Stage 3, it's clear and ready for carbon treatment.

Stage 3 — Carbon Block

The 5 micron carbon block removes organic tastes and odours — the earthy, musty qualities that sediment filters alone don't address. Water enters the UV chamber clean, clear, and fresh.

UV Sterilisation

The 33W UV chamber treats water against harmful micro-organisms as it flows through. The integrated flow switch activates the lamp only when water is moving, which prevents the chamber warming up during idle periods and avoids unnecessary power draw. When flow stops, the UV shuts off automatically.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Pure III right for my home?

It's designed for medium New Zealand households of 3 to 4 people on rainwater, bore water, or rural supplies. If you have a smaller household, the Pure II may be sufficient. If you have a larger household or higher flow demand, get in touch and we'll help you find the right fit.

How is the Pure III different from the Pure II?

Both systems use the same 33W UV chamber and flow-activated design. The Pure III adds a carbon block as the third filtration stage, which tackles organic tastes and odours that the Pure II's two sediment stages don't address. If your water has an earthy taste or tank smell, the Pure III is the better choice.

What does the flow switch do?

The flow switch detects when water is moving and activates the UV lamp. When flow stops — taps off, no demand — the lamp shuts off automatically. This prevents water sitting in a lit chamber warming up, reduces power consumption, and extends lamp life.

Does the Pure III make my water safe to drink?

The UV chamber treats water against harmful micro-organisms without chemicals. Sediment and carbon filtration removes particulates and organic taste and odour. For drinking water confidence, we recommend ensuring your pre-filtration is maintained and cartridges are replaced on schedule.

Do I need a plumber to install it?

For most customers, yes — a licensed plumber is the safest path and protects your warranty on the plumbing side. The Pure III arrives fully assembled, uses standard 25mm BSP fittings, and plugs into a standard 240V outlet. If you're confident with household plumbing, the installation itself is straightforward. If you're not sure, get in touch and we'll help you decide.

How often do I replace the cartridges and UV lamp?

UV lamp life varies depending on how much water you use — the more water flowing through the system, the sooner the lamp will need replacing. UV output degrades before the lamp visibly fails, so don't wait until it stops glowing. Cartridges should be replaced every 6–12 months depending on your water quality. Clean the quartz sleeve each time you change the lamp.

Why do I need to clean the quartz sleeve?

The quartz sleeve surrounds the UV lamp inside the chamber. Scale or sediment build-up on the sleeve blocks UV light from reaching the water, reducing treatment effectiveness. A quick clean during each lamp change keeps the system working as intended.

What happens when flow stops?

The flow switch shuts the UV lamp off automatically when water stops moving. This prevents the water in the chamber from warming up and means the lamp isn't running unnecessarily between uses.

Do I need bypass valves?

They're not included, but they're worth adding. Bypass valves let you isolate the system during cartridge and lamp changes without shutting off water to the rest of the house. Ask us about adding a set when you order.

What warranty does it come with?

3 years, covering the UV chamber, housings, and workmanship.
