Davey Microlene Poly Pleated Sediment Filter — 20" Standard
Cleanable, reusable sediment filtration for 20" Standard housings — certified to WaterMark and AS/NZS 4020.
The Davey Microlene polyester pleated cartridge removes sediment from your water supply across four micron ratings — 1, 5, 20, and 50 micron. The longer 20" length holds more filter media than the 10" equivalent — higher dirt-holding capacity, higher flow rates, and longer intervals between cleaning and replacement. The right choice for larger households, higher-usage installations, or supplies with heavy sediment loads.
Fits most 20" Standard housings — including Pentair, Puretec, Trevoli, and most other major brands.
⚠ Standard housings take a 2.5" diameter cartridge. If your cartridge is 4.5" in diameter, you need the Jumbo size — this one will not fit.
Choose Your Micron Rating
50 Micron — Coarse
Pre-filtration for heavily contaminated supplies. Removes large particles, leaves, and coarse debris. Highest flow rate and longest service life.
Flow rate: 95 LPM | Model: 50PP20
20 Micron — Medium-Coarse
The most common first-stage cartridge for rainwater and tank water supplies. Removes sediment, dirt, rust, and leaf matter before downstream fine filtration.
Flow rate: 90 LPM | Model: 20PP20
5 Micron — Medium-Fine
Removes finer sediment. Suited to second-stage filtration on rainwater systems or first-stage on cleaner mains supplies. Loads faster than 20 micron on dirty water — expect shorter service intervals.
Flow rate: 85 LPM | Model: 5PP20
1 Micron — Fine
Removes very fine particles including parasitic cysts such as Giardia and Cryptosporidium. Required upstream of UV systems treating rainwater or tank water where cysts may be present. Loads fastest — replace or clean more frequently on dirty supplies.
Flow rate: 82 LPM | Model: 1PP20
How to Clean and Reuse
This cartridge is cleanable and reusable. When flow rate drops noticeably or head loss reaches 15 psi, clean before replacing:
- Shut off the water supply and release housing pressure
- Remove the cartridge from the housing
- Rinse under a tap or gently hose off visible sediment — work from the inside out
- For stubborn deposits, soak briefly in a diluted acid or other cleaner appropriate to the contamination, then rinse thoroughly
- Sterilise with a dilute bleach solution before reinstalling
- Reinstall and restore water supply
Replace when cleaning no longer restores adequate flow. Note: 1 and 5 micron cartridges may only be cleanable once or twice before replacement is required.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which micron rating should I choose?
Choose 50 or 20 micron for coarse first-stage sediment removal on rainwater or tank water. Choose 5 micron for a second-stage fine sediment filter, or for cleaner mains supplies. Choose 1 micron where cyst protection is required — Giardia and Cryptosporidium — or as the final filtration stage before UV disinfection. Lower micron ratings filter finer but clog faster, especially on dirty supplies.
What's the difference between the 10" and 20" versions?
Both use the same polyester pleated media and carry the same certifications. The 20" version is longer — it holds more filter media, which gives it a higher flow rate, higher dirt-holding capacity, and longer intervals between cleaning and replacement. Choose the 20" for larger households, higher usage, or properties where the 10" needs servicing too frequently.
Will it fit my housing?
Before ordering, measure the diameter of the cartridge you're replacing. Standard = 2.5". Jumbo = 4.5". These are not interchangeable — a Standard cartridge will not seat correctly in a Jumbo housing. This cartridge fits most 20" Standard (2.5") housings including Pentair, Puretec, Trevoli, and most other major brands. If you're unsure, get in touch before ordering.
Can I really clean and reuse this cartridge?
Yes. Rinse off accumulated sediment when flow drops, sterilise, and reinstall. Most cartridges can be cleaned multiple times before replacement is needed. The exception is 1 and 5 micron — these finer ratings may only clean once or twice. Replace when cleaning no longer restores adequate flow.
What do the certifications mean?
WaterMark WMTS-103 (Lic. 22987) means the cartridge has been independently tested and certified against Australian and New Zealand water industry standards. AS/NZS 4020 means it has been tested and confirmed safe for use in contact with drinking water.
Does this cartridge protect against bacteria?
No. The 1 micron rating removes cysts such as Giardia and Cryptosporidium, but does not remove or inactivate bacteria or viruses. UV disinfection is required for bacteria and virus protection.
How does a pleated cartridge differ from a polyspun cartridge?
A pleated cartridge has a folded polyester membrane with a large surface area — it filters on the surface, can be cleaned, and handles high flow rates. A polyspun cartridge is a wound fibre depth filter — particles are trapped throughout the matrix and it cannot be effectively cleaned. Pleated suits applications where cleanability and flow rate matter; polyspun suits finer filtration where single-use disposable performance is preferred.
What warranty applies?
Filter cartridges are consumable items. If you receive a cartridge that appears damaged or defective on arrival, get in touch and we'll sort it out.
