UV treatment

Flow-activated UV, 33W or 48W

The 33W unit treats up to 30 L/min and the 48W unit up to 45 L/min, both at a 30 mJ/cm² UV dose. It treats the water for bacteria, viruses and other micro-organisms without adding chemicals.

  • Runs only when needed

    The flow switch turns the lamp on when water flows and off when it stops.

  • Lower power use

    The lamp is off between uses.

  • No warm water in the chamber

    Water doesn't sit and warm in the chamber between uses.

  • UV only

    Filter housings and cartridges aren't included. Fit it after your filters, with at least a 1 micron sediment stage before it.

Looking after the UV

  • Clean the quartz sleeve at each lamp change, and replace it if it's scratched or cloudy.
  • Replace the UV lamp every 12 months.
  • The ballast has a lamp-failure alarm that alerts you if the lamp stops working. UV output fades before that, so keep up with lamp servicing.
  • UV needs clear water. A sediment stage before it removes the particles that would block the UV light.

Common questions

Which size do I need, 33W or 48W?

Size it by flow. The 33W unit handles up to 30 L/min and suits smaller homes and baches. The 48W unit handles up to 45 L/min and suits medium to larger homes.

Does it come with filters?

No. It's the UV unit only. Fit it after your filter housings, with at least a 1 micron sediment stage before it.

What does flow-activated UV do?

The lamp only switches on when water is flowing. That lowers power use and stops water warming in the chamber between uses.

Is there a lamp-failure alarm?

Yes. The ballast has a lamp-failure alarm that alerts you if the lamp stops working. UV output fades before a lamp fails, so keep up with lamp servicing.

How often do I replace the lamp and sleeve?

3 years on the UV chamber and workmanship. The UV lamp is a consumable and isn't covered.

This is the Waimana UV chamber on its own, for adding UV to an existing filter setup on rural or tank water.

Choose 33W, rated at 30 L/min, or 48W, rated at 45 L/min. The UV dose is 30 mJ/cm². A flow switch means the UV only runs when water flows. Ports are 1 inch (25 mm) BSP, maximum pressure is 116 psi (8 bar), and it runs on 240 V.

UV works best on clear water, so fit sediment filters ahead of it. Replace the UV lamp yearly and clean the quartz sleeve at each lamp change. Our listing gives a 3-year warranty on the chamber.
