Water Filtration
Water filters for every home, whether you're on town water or tank water. Choose your water supply to see the systems that suit it.
How to choose
- Start with your supply. Town water is already treated, so the aim is better taste and less chlorine. Tank water needs sediment filtering and usually UV to deal with bacteria.
- Decide how much of the house you want to cover. A whole-house system filters every tap. An under-sink or benchtop filter just does your drinking water.
- For whole-house systems, 20" Jumbo housings give more flow and longer cartridge life than 10" Jumbo. They suit bigger households.
- Think about upkeep. Every filter needs new cartridges, so check what the replacements cost before you choose a system.
Common questions
I'm on town water. Do I need a filter?
Town water in New Zealand is treated and safe. Most people filter it to remove the chlorine taste and smell and any sediment that comes through the pipes.
Is rainwater safe to drink without UV?
Rainwater can carry bacteria and other microorganisms from the roof and tank. Filters remove dirt and particles, but UV is what deals with the bugs. Most homes drinking tank water use both.
Whole-house or under-sink?
Whole-house treats every tap, shower and appliance. Under-sink is a smaller option that treats only your kitchen drinking water. Some homes use both.
How often do the cartridges need changing?
Most whole-house cartridges are changed every 6 to 12 months, depending on your water and how much you use.
