Get reliable fine sediment filtration with a 10" Jumbo 5 micron polyspun water filter cartridge designed to capture suspended particles while maintaining strong water flow through your filtration system.

The polyspun construction uses food-grade polypropylene fibres to create depth filtration throughout the cartridge, helping trap sediment within the media rather than only on the surface.

Choose Standard Waimana for dependable 5 micron filtration at up to 50 L/min, or Premium Davey Microlene for higher-flow performance at up to 76 L/min.

Standard — Waimana 10PP05

The Waimana 10PP05 is a practical fine sediment cartridge designed for potable cold-water filtration.

Its food-grade polypropylene polyspun media filters down to 5 micron while providing a rated flow of up to 50 L/min.

The depth-style construction helps capture fine suspended particles throughout the filter media, making it well suited to residential and general-purpose water filtration systems.

Choose Standard when you want dependable 5 micron filtration and 50 L/min provides enough flow for your application.

Premium — Davey Microlene 5PS10J

The Davey Microlene 5PS10J combines fine sediment filtration with higher flow capacity.

Its polypropylene spun-melt construction consists of thousands of interlocked, thermally bonded fibres. This provides stable filtration media while helping prevent fibre movement as flow and pressure change.

The Premium Davey provides:

  • 76 L/min rated flow
  • 5 micron filtration
  • Food-grade polypropylene construction
  • Thermally bonded fibre structure
  • Maximum operating temperature of 63°C
  • Strong suitability for drinking water and other high-purity applications

Why Choose This Water Filter Cartridge?

  • 5 micron sediment filtration — captures fine suspended particles from your water supply.
  • 10" Jumbo format — provides more filter media and flow capacity than a standard-diameter cartridge.
  • Polyspun depth filtration — traps sediment throughout the filter media.
  • 50 L/min Standard option — practical fine filtration for everyday water systems.
  • 76 L/min Premium option — higher flow capacity for more demanding applications.
  • Food-grade polypropylene media — suited to potable-water filtration.
  • Excellent polishing stage — useful after a coarser sediment filter where finer particle removal is required.

How It Works

Polyspun cartridges use a depth-filtration structure made from layers of polypropylene fibres.

As water travels through the cartridge, suspended particles are captured at different depths throughout the media.

This gives the cartridge greater sediment-holding capacity than a simple surface filter while providing fine 5 micron filtration.

The Davey cartridge uses thousands of thermally bonded fibres, helping maintain media stability as water flow and pressure change.

Best Suited For

This 10" Jumbo 5 micron water filter cartridge is well suited to:

  • Whole-house water filtration
  • Fine sediment removal
  • Drinking water filtration
  • Tank water systems
  • Rainwater systems
  • Bore and groundwater systems
  • Sediment polishing
  • Prefiltration ahead of finer treatment stages
  • Prefiltration ahead of reverse osmosis
  • Beverage and food-industry applications
  • Laboratory and high-purity water applications

The 5 micron rating provides a useful balance between fine particle removal and water flow, making it a versatile choice for many residential and commercial filtration systems.

Standard vs Premium — Which Should I Choose?

Choose Standard Waimana if you want:

  • Reliable 5 micron sediment filtration
  • 50 L/min rated flow
  • Food-grade polypropylene media
  • A practical Jumbo cartridge for potable cold water
  • Fine filtration at a lower price point

For general residential water filtration, Standard provides a strong balance of particle removal, flow and value.

Choose Premium Davey if you want:

  • Higher 76 L/min rated flow
  • Fine 5 micron sediment filtration
  • Thermally bonded polypropylene fibres
  • Higher maximum operating temperature of 63°C
  • Greater flow capacity for higher-demand systems
  • A cartridge suited to drinking water, beverage, food, laboratory and other low-contamination applications

The main reason to move to Premium is higher flow capacity while maintaining the same 5 micron filtration level.

Installation

This cartridge is designed for use in a compatible 10" Jumbo water filter housing.

To replace the cartridge:

  1. Turn off the water supply.
  2. Release pressure from the filter housing.
  3. Remove the filter housing sump.
  4. Remove the existing cartridge.
  5. Clean the housing if required.
  6. Check that the O-ring is clean and seated correctly.
  7. Insert the new cartridge.
  8. Reassemble the housing.
  9. Slowly restore water pressure.
  10. Check the housing for leaks.

Always follow the installation instructions supplied with your filter housing and water filtration system.

Maintenance

Polyspun cartridges are designed as replaceable depth filters.

Cartridge life depends on water quality, sediment loading and water usage.

Standard — Waimana

Replace around every 12 months, or sooner if water quality or flow noticeably reduces.

Premium — Davey Microlene

Replace when the cartridge becomes loaded with sediment or flow performance declines.

Davey recommends replacement every 12 months, with actual service life depending on the amount of suspended solids in the water.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does 5 micron mean?

A 5 micron filter cartridge is designed to capture fine suspended particles from your water supply.

It provides finer filtration than a 20 micron cartridge while generally allowing more flow than a 1 micron cartridge.

What's the difference between Standard and Premium?

The biggest difference is flow rate.

The Standard Waimana is rated at 50 L/min, while the Premium Davey is rated at 76 L/min.

Both use polypropylene polyspun-style depth filtration.

Which option should I choose?

Choose Standard Waimana for general 5 micron sediment filtration where 50 L/min is sufficient.

Choose Premium Davey when your system needs greater flow capacity while maintaining the same 5 micron filtration level.

What is the flow rate?

Standard Waimana: 50 L/min

Premium Davey Microlene: 76 L/min

Actual system flow will also depend on water pressure, plumbing, filter housing and sediment loading.

Can I clean and reuse these cartridges?

No. Polyspun cartridges are designed as replaceable depth filters.

Once sediment loading begins to noticeably restrict water flow, replace the cartridge.

How often should I replace the cartridge?

A good guide is every 12 months, or sooner where water quality, sediment loading or reduced flow indicates replacement is needed.

Is 5 micron good for whole-house filtration?

Yes. 5 micron is a popular fine sediment filtration level for whole-house systems, especially where you want finer particle removal without moving all the way down to 1 micron.

Can I use this after a 20 micron sediment filter?

Yes. A 5 micron cartridge works well as a second-stage sediment filter after a coarser 20 micron cartridge.

The 20 micron stage captures larger particles first, allowing the 5 micron filter to focus on finer sediment.

Will this fit a 10" Jumbo housing?

Yes. This product is designed for a compatible 10" Jumbo water filter housing.
