A pleated carbon cartridge that handles high flow rates while reducing sediment, chlorine, taste, and odour — cleanable, reusable, and built for demanding applications.
The Davey Microlene 10" Jumbo Pleated Carbon Impregnated Filter Cartridge is constructed entirely from FDA grade materials. Powdered activated carbon is impregnated onto a pleated polyester structure, combining the high surface area and dirt-loading capacity of a pleated cartridge with light duty carbon functionality.
The pleated design allows significantly higher flow rates than conventional carbon block cartridges, while maintaining a minimal pressure drop. This makes the PPAC10J well suited to applications where flow rate matters but sediment and chlorine reduction are still required — including rainwater tanks, bore water systems, post-reverse osmosis polishing, drinking water, and food service and commercial applications.
Important: because of the limited quantity of carbon in the media, this cartridge is not recommended for removal of organics, pesticides, or THMs. For those applications, use the ACB or BPAC carbon block range instead.
These cartridges are for cold water use only (max. 52°C).
Cleanable and reusable. Wash under a tap every 3 to 6 months to extend service life. Replace every 12 months. Sold as a single cartridge.

- THMs (trihalomethanes)
For organics, pesticide, and THM reduction, see the Davey Microlene ACB or BPAC carbon block cartridge range.
Why Choose the PPAC Over a Standard Carbon Block
The pleated construction gives a much larger filtration surface area than a solid carbon block cartridge. This means the PPAC can handle higher flow rates and heavier sediment loads while still providing chlorine, taste, and odour reduction. The trade-off is less carbon volume, which is why it is not suited to organics or pesticide reduction. It is the right choice when flow rate is the priority and light duty carbon functionality is all that's needed.
How to Clean and Reuse
When flow rate drops noticeably:
- Shut off the water supply and remove the cartridge from the housing.
- Wash under a tap to remove accumulated sediment.
- Reinstall and restore water supply.
Wash every 3 to 6 months as a routine. Replace the cartridge every 12 months regardless of condition.

FAQ
What does this cartridge actually do?
It removes sediment at 10 micron while reducing chlorine, taste, and odour. The pleated carbon construction allows higher flow rates than conventional carbon block cartridges, making it well suited to whole-house and commercial applications where flow matters.
What doesn't this cartridge remove?
It is not designed for organics, pesticides, or THMs. The limited carbon volume in the pleated design means it provides light duty carbon functionality only. For pesticide and THM reduction, the ACB or BPAC carbon block cartridges are the right choice.
Can I clean and reuse this cartridge?
Yes. Wash under a tap when flow rate drops, or every 3 to 6 months as routine maintenance. Replace the cartridge every 12 months regardless.
How is this different from the ACB and BPAC carbon block cartridges?
The PPAC uses a pleated polyester structure impregnated with carbon, giving it a much larger surface area and higher flow rate than a solid carbon block. The ACB and BPAC cartridges contain significantly more carbon and are designed for fuller chemical reduction including organics, pesticides, and THMs. The PPAC is the right choice for high-flow applications where light chlorine and sediment reduction is sufficient.
Is it certified?
No. This cartridge does not carry WaterMark or AS/NZS 4020 certification.
Can I use it with hot water?
No. These cartridges are for cold water use only, with a maximum temperature of 52°C.
Will it fit my housing?
It fits most 10" jumbo housings — those designed for a 10" × 4.5" cartridge. To check, measure the inside diameter of your housing. Jumbo cartridges are approximately 4.5" across; standard cartridges are approximately 2.5".
Do I need special tools to change the cartridge?
You'll need a housing wrench to open the filter housing — most housings include one. Beyond that, no special tools are required.
What warranty applies?
Filter cartridges are consumables and are not covered under a product warranty. If your cartridge arrives damaged or defective, contact us and we'll sort it out.
