Fit check

Is it right for my water supply?

A quick check before you buy.

  • Rainwater and irrigation

    Good fit

Davey high head drainage pumps suit rainwater, lawn and garden irrigation, sump emptying to higher heads and water transfer from wells.

  • Lifting water a long way

    Good fit

Davey's multistage impellers are built for low flow and higher head, so they suit long or uphill discharge runs.

  • Dirty water, sewage or solids

    Not this one

Clean water of neutral pH with up to 1% small solids. For dirty water and solids, see Davey's dewatering, vortex or sewage pumps.

  • Automatic float

    Good fit

The automatic model has a float switch to start the pump as water rises and stop it at a safe level. Leave room for the float to move freely.

  • Emptying a swimming pool

    Consider

Emptying pools is another use. They're not for recirculating or filtering pools or spas, and never with people in the water.

Common questions

What's the difference between the standard and 20 m lead?

The D53A/B comes with a 10 m lead and 3-pin plug. The D53A/B20 is the same pump with a 20 m power lead, for deeper tanks or a longer run to the power point.

What water can it pump?

Clean water of neutral pH containing up to 1% small solids. Sand, grit and hard solids will wear the pump faster. It's not for sewage or dirty water with solids.

How much water can it move?

The D53A/B has capacities to 130 lpm and 45 m maximum total head. Flow drops as the head rises; the performance curve shows the full range.

What warranty does it have?

It comes with a 24-month warranty.

Davey's high head drainage pumps lift water further than a standard sump pump. The D53A/B suits rainwater, lawn and garden irrigation, sump emptying to higher heads, treated effluent disposal and water transfer from wells. It has 3 glass filled polycarbonate impellers, a 304 stainless steel shaft, motor shell and fine mesh strainer, cast 316 stainless steel motor caps and a double mechanical seal. The automatic model has a float switch, and a 20 m lead option is available (D53A/B20).

The D53A/B is rated at 0.84 kW output (1.31 kW input) on 220–240 V single phase, with capacities to 130 lpm, 45 m maximum total head and a 1" F BSP outlet. It handles clean water of neutral pH with up to 1% small solids, and weighs 16.5 kg.

It comes with a 24-month warranty. The D53 can be combined with a Davey Torrium2 controller for rainwater recycling. It's not for sewage or dirty water with solids.
