The Davey Microlene HF1M-R is a five-stage replacement cartridge for the Microlene HF1M underbench filter system. One cartridge handles filtration, purification, and scale treatment — reducing bad taste and odour, chlorine, sediment, Trihalomethanes (THMs), and cysts, while water-softening beads treat scale and hard water. Vital minerals are left in the water supply.

Questions
How does five stages work in one cartridge?
The HF1M-R combines multiple filtration and treatment media into a single cartridge — sediment filtration, activated carbon, chemical reduction, cyst removal, and water-softening beads. You get the benefit of a multi-stage system without multiple housings.
What are Trihalomethanes (THMs)?
THMs are a group of chemical by-products that can form when chlorine reacts with organic matter in water. They are more common in treated mains supplies. The HF1M-R is designed to reduce THMs as part of its five-stage process.
Does it soften hard water?
The HF1M-R incorporates water-softening beads that treat scale and hard water. If scale build-up on appliances or fittings is a concern, this cartridge addresses that as part of the filtration process.
How often do I need to replace it?
Every 6 to 12 months, or sooner if flow rate noticeably drops. The cartridge has a maximum capacity of 65,000 litres — on higher-use households, capacity may be reached before 12 months.
Will it fit my system?
The HF1M-R is the replacement cartridge for the Davey Microlene HF1M underbench filter system. It uses a twist-fit connection with 1/2" BSP fittings. If you're unsure whether it fits your system, get in touch and we'll confirm before you order.
Does it remove Cryptosporidium and Giardia?
Yes. The HF1M-R has been tested to remove up to 99.9% of Cryptosporidium and Giardia cysts. It complies with AS/NZS 4020.
What does AS/NZS 4020 mean?
AS/NZS 4020 is the Australian/New Zealand standard for products intended for contact with drinking water. Compliance means the materials and components used in the cartridge have been independently tested and approved as safe for use in drinking water systems.
Do I need a plumber to replace it?
No. The HF1M-R connects via a simple twist-fit mechanism. Shut off the water, twist out the old cartridge, twist in the new one. Full instructions are included with the cartridge.
