Rainwater is a great resource — but what comes off a roof isn't always clean. Dust, leaves, fine silt, and organic matter all find their way into your tank. The Waiora Clarity II filters it out before it reaches your taps.

This is a 2-stage whole house system designed for New Zealand homes and baches on rainwater or tank water. Stage one uses a 20 micron pleated filter to catch the coarser particles — dirt, debris, and organic matter. Stage two follows with a 1 micron polyspun filter to trap fine silt and sediment. What comes out the other end is clear, clean water throughout the house.

The twin 10 inch jumbo housings arrive pre-mounted on a powder-coated bracket, ready to go on the wall. Compact enough for a small pump shed or tight utility space. Connection is standard 25mm BSP. Filter changes are DIY-friendly with the included housing spanner.

How it works

Stage 1 — Coarse Sediment

The 20 micron pleated filter catches the larger particles first — dirt, debris, leaves, and organic matter that collect in your tank. Starting coarse extends the life of Stage 2.

Stage 2 — Fine Sediment

The 1 micron polyspun filter captures the fine silt and particles that passed through Stage 1. Together, both stages produce clear water that's ready for drinking, cooking, or UV treatment.

Is the Clarity II right for my home?

It's designed for New Zealand homes, baches, and properties on rainwater or tank water. If your main concern is sediment, silt, and organic matter, it's a strong fit. Does the Clarity II make rainwater safe to drink?

The Clarity II removes sediment and particulates. It does not treat bacteria or other micro-organisms. If you want to treat your rainwater for drinking, a UV system added downstream is the recommended next step. Get in touch and we can help you put together the right setup.

Why does the system use two sediment stages instead of one?

Starting with a coarser 20 micron filter before a finer 1 micron filter is the most effective approach for tank water. The first stage catches the bulk of the debris and extends the life of the finer filter. Running a 1 micron filter alone on unfiltered tank water would clog it quickly.

Does it need to be installed before or after my pump?

The Clarity II is installed on the outlet side of your pump — after the pump, before the rest of the house. This means it protects your appliances and fittings downstream, not the pump itself. If you need pre-pump protection, get in touch and we can advise on the right setup.

Do I need a plumber to install it?

For most customers, yes — a licensed plumber is the safest path and protects your warranty on the plumbing side. That said, the Clarity II arrives fully assembled, uses standard 25mm BSP fittings, and mounts with the included hardware. If you're confident with household plumbing, the installation itself is straightforward. If you're not sure, get in touch and we'll help you decide.

How often do I replace the cartridges?

Every 6–12 months, depending on how much sediment is in your water. Tank water with higher silt loads will shorten cartridge life — some properties need changes more frequently. Check the pleated filter first; if it's visibly loaded with debris, it's time.

Do I need bypass valves?

They're not included, but they're worth adding. Bypass valves let you isolate the filter during cartridge changes without shutting off water to the rest of the house. Ask us about adding a set when you order.
