Protect your household water with the Aquano Klarify UV-310, an all-in-one whole-house system combining three-stage cartridge filtration with ultraviolet water treatment.

Designed for small to medium New Zealand homes using rainwater or mains water, the UV-310 progressively filters sediment, chlorine, unwanted chemicals, unpleasant taste and odour before the water passes through a high-intensity UV-C chamber. Aquano states that the system can treat up to 99.9% of E. coli, Giardia and Cryptosporidium cysts under suitable operating conditions.

Both versions use three 10-inch Jumbo filter housings, an Aquano UVS46W ultraviolet system and a UVL46W lamp. They provide a maximum flow rate of 70 litres per minute, with a specified UV dose of 30 mJ/cm² at 70 L/min.

Choose between:

  • UV-310I Indoor Version – Designed for protected indoor installation.
  • UV-310C Outdoor Version – Includes a lockable anti-tamper weather-protection cover for outdoor installation.

Choose Your Installation Version

Aquano Klarify UV-310I – Indoor

The UV-310I is best suited to homes with a suitable indoor installation area, such as a garage, pump shed, utility room or plant room.

Its open-frame design provides straightforward access to the filter housings and UV components during servicing. The system is reversible, allowing the installation direction to be adapted to suit the property’s plumbing layout.

Aquano Klarify UV-310C – Outdoor With Lockable Cover

The UV-310C is designed for homes requiring an outdoor installation.

It includes a lockable anti-tamper and weather-protection cover that helps shield the filtration and UV components from exposure while restricting unauthorised access. Filter-housing weather-protection covers are also included.

Why Choose the Aquano Klarify UV-310?

Whole-House Filtration and UV Treatment

Installed where the water supply enters the property, the UV-310 filters and UV treats the water before it is distributed throughout the home.

This means treated water can be supplied to:

  • Kitchen taps
  • Bathroom taps
  • Showers
  • Toilets
  • Washing machines
  • Dishwashers
  • Other water-using appliances

Four Treatment Stages in One System

The UV-310 combines:

  1. Washable pleated sediment filtration
  2. Fine polyspun sediment filtration
  3. Carbon-impregnated filtration
  4. Ultraviolet water treatment

The three cartridge stages improve water clarity and quality before the water reaches the UV chamber.

Designed for Small to Medium Homes

Three 10-inch Jumbo housings provide practical whole-house filtration capacity, while the system’s maximum flow rate of 70 L/min makes it suitable for small to medium homes.

Suitable for Rainwater and Mains Water

The UV-310 is suitable for both mains and rainwater supplies, providing a complete filtration and UV treatment solution in one pre-assembled system.

Fine Filtration Down to 1 Micron

The first two cartridges are rated to 1 micron, helping capture both larger sediment and fine suspended particles before the water reaches the carbon and UV treatment stages.

UV Lamp Monitoring and Alarm

The UV system includes:

  • UV lamp countdown timer
  • Audible failure alarm
  • Visible failure warning

These features make it easier to monitor lamp life and identify when the UV system requires attention.

Chemical-Free UV Treatment

The UV chamber uses ultraviolet light rather than adding disinfecting chemicals to the water.

Supplied Ready for Installation

Both models arrive with the three filter cartridges, filter-housing weather covers and housing spanner included.

The UV-310C also includes its lockable outdoor weather-protection cover.

How It Works

Water passes through three cartridge-filtration stages before entering the UV chamber.

Stage 1 – Washable Pleated Sediment Filtration

The first PC1010J washable pleated cartridge captures larger particles and suspended material, including:

  • Dirt
  • Grit
  • Rust
  • Sand
  • Tank sediment

The cartridge has a 1-micron rating and can be washed during routine servicing where it remains in suitable condition.

Stage 2 – Fine Polyspun Sediment Filtration

The second PS1001J polyspun cartridge captures finer suspended particles down to 1 micron, including fine dirt, rust, sand and silt.

Removing this material helps improve water clarity and prepares the water for the final carbon and UV stages.

Stage 3 – Carbon-Impregnated Filtration

The third CIM10J carbon-impregnated cartridge helps reduce:

  • Remaining sediment
  • Chlorine
  • Unwanted chemicals
  • Unpleasant taste
  • Unpleasant odour

The CIM10J has a 10-micron rating and acts as the final filtration stage before UV treatment.

Stage 4 – Ultraviolet Treatment

The filtered water then passes through the UVS46W stainless-steel UV system, where the UVL46W lamp exposes the water to UV-C light.

Aquano states that the UV-310 can treat up to 99.9% of E. coli, Giardia and Cryptosporidium cysts when correctly installed, maintained and operated under suitable conditions.

Best Suited For

The Aquano Klarify UV-310 is best suited to:

  • Small to medium homes
  • Properties supplied by rainwater tanks
  • Homes using qualifying mains water
  • Rural properties and lifestyle blocks
  • Households concerned about sediment, chlorine, taste or odour
  • Homes wanting UV treatment throughout the whole property
  • Indoor installations using the UV-310I
  • Outdoor installations using the covered UV-310C

Installation

Professional installation by a licensed plumber is recommended to ensure the system is installed correctly and complies with applicable New Zealand plumbing requirements.

The unit is installed on the incoming water supply so water is filtered and UV treated before being distributed throughout the home.

Installation planning should include:

  • Selecting the UV-310I for a protected indoor location
  • Selecting the UV-310C where an outdoor installation is required
  • Mounting the system securely to a suitable surface
  • Providing adequate access for filter replacement
  • Allowing room to remove and service the UV lamp
  • Supporting connected pipework
  • Installing isolation valves for servicing
  • Protecting the system from excessive pressure
  • Providing a suitable electrical supply for the UV system
  • Ensuring outdoor electrical components are appropriately protected
  • Keeping the system accessible for ongoing maintenance

The system uses 1-inch BSP connections and operates within a stated pressure range of 300–875 kPa.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance is important for continued filtration and UV performance.

Filter Cartridges

Filter service life depends on:

  • Incoming water quality
  • Household water consumption
  • Sediment loading
  • Pressure loss through the system

The washable pleated cartridge should be cleaned as required. The polyspun and carbon-impregnated cartridges should be replaced when their performance declines or according to the manufacturer’s maintenance recommendations.

The pressure gauges should be checked periodically. A noticeable pressure drop may indicate that one or more cartridges require cleaning or replacement.

UV Lamp

The UV lamp should be replaced according to Aquano’s recommended service interval, even where it continues to illuminate, because UV output decreases over time.

The countdown timer helps track lamp life, while audible and visible alarms provide warning of a UV lamp or system fault.

Quartz Sleeve

The quartz sleeve surrounding the UV lamp should be inspected and cleaned during servicing. Deposits on the sleeve can reduce the amount of UV light reaching the water.
