Enjoy cleaner, clearer rainwater throughout your home with the Aquano Klarify R-310.
Designed for small to medium New Zealand homes supplied by rainwater, this three-stage whole-house filtration system progressively reduces sediment, unwanted chemicals, chlorine, unpleasant taste and odour before the water reaches your taps, showers and appliances. Its three 10-inch Jumbo housings and maximum flow rate of 70 litres per minute provide practical whole-home filtration without limiting treatment to a single drinking-water tap.
The R-310 combines a washable pleated cartridge, a fine polyspun sediment cartridge and a carbon-impregnated cartridge. Together, these filtration stages remove larger debris, capture fine suspended particles down to 1 micron and improve the taste and smell of household rainwater.
The complete system arrives pre-assembled with three filter cartridges, housing spanners and weather-protection covers. Its durable anti-corrosion metal construction and reversible installation capability make it practical to install, monitor and maintain.
Why Choose the Aquano Klarify R-310?
Filter Rainwater Throughout the Whole Home
Installed where the rainwater supply enters the property, the R-310 filters the water before it is distributed around the house. This allows the benefits to extend beyond one drinking-water tap to showers, kitchen taps, bathroom taps and water-using appliances.
Three Dedicated Filtration Stages
Rather than relying on one cartridge to manage every water-quality concern, the R-310 uses three separate stages to progressively capture larger debris, remove fine sediment and reduce unwanted chemicals, chlorine, taste and odour.
Designed for Small to Medium Homes
The system uses three 10-inch Jumbo housings and has a maximum flow rate of 70 L/min, making it suitable for small to medium homes where several water outlets may be used.
Washable First-Stage Filter
The first pleated sediment cartridge is washable, allowing accumulated dirt and larger particles to be removed during routine servicing. This helps protect the finer cartridges installed downstream.
Fine Filtration Down to 1 Micron
The polyspun sediment cartridge captures fine dirt, rust, sand, silt and suspended particles down to 1 micron, helping improve water clarity and protect the final carbon filtration stage.
Easier Performance Monitoring
The system’s pressure gauges provide a visible way to monitor pressure through the filtration stages. An increasing pressure difference may indicate that a cartridge is becoming restricted and requires cleaning or replacement.
Suitable for Indoor or Protected Outdoor Installation
Weather-protection covers are included with the R-310. Outdoor installations should be positioned and protected in accordance with Aquano’s installation requirements, including protection from frost, direct sunlight and weather exposure.
Supplied Ready for Installation
The system arrives pre-assembled and includes its three filter cartridges, housing spanners and weather-protection covers, helping simplify installation and future servicing.
How It Works
Rainwater passes through three filtration stages before entering the home’s plumbing system.
Stage 1: Washable Pleated Sediment Filtration
The first PC1010J washable pleated cartridge captures larger particles and suspended material commonly found in rainwater systems, including dirt, grit, rust and tank sediment.
The cartridge can be washed when required, helping extend its service life and reducing the sediment load placed on the finer filtration stages that follow.
Stage 2: Fine Polyspun Sediment Filtration
The second PS1001J polyspun cartridge captures fine dirt, sand, silt, rust and other suspended particles down to 1 micron.
Removing these smaller particles helps improve water clarity and prevents fine sediment from prematurely loading the final carbon cartridge.
Stage 3: Carbon-Impregnated Filtration
The final CIM10J carbon-impregnated cartridge reduces remaining sediment, chemicals, chlorine, unwanted taste and odour.
This cartridge acts as the final polishing stage before the filtered rainwater is distributed throughout the home.

Installation
Installation should be completed by a licensed plumber and comply with applicable New Zealand plumbing requirements. The R-310 is installed on the incoming rainwater supply so water is filtered before being distributed throughout the home.
Installation requirements include:
- Mounting the system securely to a solid surface
- Installing it where leaks or spills will not cause property damage
- Allowing adequate clearance beneath the housings for cartridge removal
- Installing an upstream isolation valve for servicing
- Supporting connected pipework so its weight does not stress the system
- Protecting the system from water hammer
- Using unions to simplify future servicing
- Using approved pipework, fittings and thread sealants
- Installing suitable pressure-control equipment where required
- Protecting the system from freezing
- Fitting the supplied weather-protection covers when installed outdoors
- Avoiding overtightening fittings or housings
The system has reversible installation capability, allowing the direction of flow to be adapted to suit the installation layout.
Allow enough space around and beneath the system for each housing to be removed without dismantling the surrounding pipework.
Maintenance
Cartridge cleaning and replacement frequency will depend on incoming rainwater quality, household water consumption and the amount of sediment being collected.
The washable pleated cartridge may require more frequent cleaning where the rainwater supply contains a high sediment load.
During servicing:
- Shut off the incoming water supply.
- Open a downstream tap to release pressure.
- Use the pressure-release controls to depressurise the system.
- Remove each housing using the supplied spanner if required.
- Remove the filter cartridges.
- Wash the reusable pleated cartridge where it remains serviceable.
- Replace disposable cartridges as required.
- Clean the inside of each filter housing.
- Inspect the O-rings and replace any that are damaged.
- Lubricate suitable O-rings with food-grade silicone.
- Reinstall the cartridges centrally and in the correct order.
- Refit the housings without overtightening.
- Restore the water supply slowly.
- Open a downstream tap to release trapped air.
- Flush the system thoroughly.
- Check all housings, joints and fittings for leaks.
The pressure gauges should also be checked periodically. A noticeable pressure drop through the system may indicate that the pleated cartridge requires cleaning or that one or more cartridges need replacing.
