Enjoy cleaner, clearer rainwater throughout your home with the Aquano Klarify R-320.
Designed for medium to large New Zealand homes using rainwater or bore water, this three-stage whole-house filtration system progressively reduces sediment, dirt, rust, unwanted chemicals, unpleasant taste and odour before the water reaches your taps, showers and appliances. Its three 20-inch Jumbo housings and maximum flow rate of 120 litres per minute provide the capacity needed for homes where several outlets may be used at once.
The R-320 combines a washable pleated cartridge, a fine polyspun sediment cartridge and a carbon-impregnated cartridge. Together, these stages provide progressive filtration down to 1 micron while helping improve the appearance, taste and smell of household rainwater.
The system arrives pre-assembled and includes three replaceable filter cartridges, pressure gauges, housing spanners and neoprene weather-protection covers. Its durable anti-corrosion metal construction and reversible installation capability make it practical to install, monitor and maintain.
Why Choose the Aquano Klarify R-320?
Filter Rainwater Throughout the Whole Home
Installed at the point where the rainwater or bore water supply enters the property, the R-320 filters water before it is distributed around the house. This allows the benefits to extend beyond a single drinking-water tap to showers, kitchen taps, bathroom taps and water-using appliances.
Three Dedicated Filtration Stages
Rather than relying on one cartridge to manage every water-quality issue, the R-320 uses three separate stages to progressively remove larger debris, capture fine sediment and reduce unwanted taste and odour.
Designed for Medium to Large Homes
The system uses three 20-inch Jumbo housings and has a maximum flow rate of 120 L/min, giving it the capacity needed for medium to large homes with higher simultaneous water demand.
Washable First-Stage Filter
The first pleated cartridge can be washed when required, helping capture larger sediment before it reaches the finer disposable cartridges downstream.
Fine Filtration Down to 1 Micron
The polyspun sediment stage is designed to capture fine suspended particles down to 1 micron, helping improve water clarity and protect the final carbon stage.
Easier Performance Monitoring
The three pressure gauges provide a visible way to monitor pressure through the filtration stages. A growing pressure difference may indicate that a cartridge is becoming restricted and needs cleaning or replacement.
Suitable for Indoor or Outdoor Installation
The R-320 may be installed indoors or outdoors. For outdoor installations, the supplied neoprene covers must be fitted to protect the housings from frost, direct sunlight and water exposure. The system must also be protected from freezing.
Supplied Ready for Installation
The complete unit arrives pre-assembled and includes its cartridges, housing spanners and weather-protection covers, making installation and future servicing straightforward.
How It Works
Water passes through three filtration stages before entering the home’s plumbing system.
Stage 1: Washable Pleated Sediment Filtration
The first PC2020J pleated cartridge captures larger particles and suspended material commonly found in rainwater systems, including leaves, dirt, grit, rust and tank sediment.
Because the cartridge is washable, it can be cleaned as required to help extend its service life. Removing larger debris first also helps protect the finer cartridges that follow.
Stage 2: Fine Polyspun Sediment Filtration
The second PS2001J polyspun cartridge captures finer dirt, sand, silt, rust and suspended particles down to 1 micron.
This stage helps improve water clarity while preventing fine sediment from prematurely loading the final carbon cartridge.
Stage 3: Carbon-Impregnated Filtration
The final CIM20J carbon-impregnated rainwater cartridge helps reduce remaining sediment, unwanted taste and odour.
It acts as the final polishing stage before filtered water is distributed throughout the home.
Best Suited For
The Aquano Klarify R-320 is best suited to:
- Medium to large homes
- Properties supplied by rainwater tanks
- Homes using bore water
- Households concerned about dirt, rust, sand, silt or tank sediment
- Homes experiencing unpleasant water taste or odour
- Properties requiring filtration throughout the whole house
- Indoor installations
- Appropriately protected outdoor installations
- Households wanting a high-capacity, serviceable filtration system
This product is a filtration system rather than a microbiological disinfection system. It must not be used with microbiologically unsafe water, or water of unknown quality, unless suitable disinfection is also installed.

Installation
Installation must be completed by a licensed plumber and comply with applicable New Zealand plumbing requirements. The unit is installed on the cold-water supply at the point of entry so rainwater or bore water is filtered before being distributed throughout the home.
Installation requirements include:
- Mounting the unit securely to a solid surface
- Installing where leaks or spills will not cause property damage
- Providing adequate clearance beneath the housings for cartridge removal
- Installing an upstream isolation valve for servicing
- Supporting connected pipework so its weight does not stress the system
- Protecting the unit from water hammer
- Using unions to simplify future servicing
- Using approved piping, fittings and thread sealants
- Installing an approved pressure-limiting valve where line pressure exceeds 500 kPa
- Installing an approved dual-check backflow prevention device for point-of-entry installations
- Protecting the system from freezing
- Using the supplied neoprene covers when installed outdoors
- Avoiding overtightening, which may damage the filter head
Allow sufficient space around and beneath the system so each housing can be removed without dismantling the surrounding pipework.
Maintenance
Aquano recommends replacing the filter cartridges every 6–12 months. Actual service life will depend on incoming water quality, household consumption and the amount of sediment being collected.
The washable pleated cartridge may require more frequent cleaning where rainwater contains a high sediment load.
During servicing:
- Shut off the incoming water supply.
- Open a downstream tap.
- Press the red pressure-release buttons to depressurise the system.
- Remove each housing using the supplied spanner if required.
- Remove the cartridges.
- Wash the reusable pleated cartridge where it remains serviceable.
- Replace disposable cartridges as required.
- Clean the filter housings.
- Inspect the O-rings and replace any that are damaged.
- Lubricate suitable O-rings with food-grade silicone.
- Fit the cartridges centrally and in the correct order.
- Refit the housings without overtightening.
- Restore the water supply slowly.
- Open a downstream tap to purge trapped air.
- Flush the system for 2–10 minutes.
- Check all joints and housings for leaks.
The pressure gauges should also be checked periodically. A noticeable pressure drop through the system may indicate that the pleated cartridge requires cleaning or that one or more cartridges need replacing.
