Does it switch itself on and off?
Yes. The D25VA has a float switch that starts the pump as water rises and stops it at a safe operating level. Leave room for the float to move freely.
What's a vortex pump good for?
Davey's vortex impeller sits back from the flow, so it's less likely to block and handles soft solids in suspension. We recommend vortex pumps for water with hair.
How much water can it move?
The D25VA has capacities to 200 lpm and heads to 6.5 m, with soft solids up to 25 mm.
What shouldn't it pump?
Don't pump sand, grit or abrasive materials, flammable or corrosive fluids, or stringy waste and sanitary products. Davey's cutter and grinder pumps are made for those.

Davey's vortex grey water pumps use a semi vortex, open impeller that's less likely to block, so they can pump soft solids in suspension. The D25VA suits grey water pumping, sump emptying, septic effluent disposal, water transfer, light slurries and factory waste. It has a 304 stainless steel motor shell, shaft, strainer and fasteners, a sand slinger and a float switch for automatic operation.
The D25VA is rated at 0.25 kW (250 W) on 220–240 V single phase, with capacities to 200 lpm, heads to 6.5 m, soft solids to 25 mm and a 1½" F BSP outlet. It handles clean or grey water of neutral pH with up to 10% small soft solids or 1% fine solids, and weighs 9 kg.
It comes with a 24-month warranty. For stringy waste or raw sewage with sanitary products, we recommend Davey cutter or grinder pumps instead.
