Davey Microlene 10" Standard Activated Carbon Block Filter
Taste, odour, chlorine, and chemical reduction for 10" Standard housings — three cartridge options to suit your application.
All three cartridges in this listing are carbon block filters made entirely from FDA-grade materials. They treat the same core issues — taste, odour, chlorine, pesticides, and dissolved chemicals — but differ in micron rating, cyst removal capability, capacity, and hygenic life. Choose the right one for your application from the dropdown below.
As with all carbon-based cartridges, run the filter for at least 5 minutes after installation to flush carbon fines, and flush for 20 seconds before using the water for drinking.
Fits most 10" Standard housings — including Pentair, Puretec, Trevoli, and most other major brands.
⚠ Standard housings take a 2.5" diameter cartridge. If your cartridge is 4.5" in diameter, you need the Jumbo size — this one will not fit.

ACB10 — 5 Micron Bonded Powdered Activated Carbon
The ACB10 is a dual-purpose cartridge combining sediment filtration and chemical purification in one. At 5 micron nominal, it has a higher porosity than the BPAC range — this means higher flow rates, better resistance to pore plugging from sediment, and a longer online life. For high sediment loads, a pre-filter upstream is still recommended.
- Micron rating: 5 micron nominal
- Reduces: Taste, odour, chlorine, pesticides, chemicals, sediment
- Capacity: 22,700 litres
- Optimal flow rate: 3.8 LPM
- Max temperature: 82.2°C
- Hygenic life: Replace when taste or odour returns
- Certification: WaterMark WMTS-103 (Lic. 22987), AS/NZS 4020
BPAC10 — 0.5 Micron Bonded Powdered Activated Carbon
The BPAC10 is a finer-rated carbon block with exceptional adsorption capability. At 0.5 micron nominal (1 micron absolute), it effectively removes Giardia and Cryptosporidium cysts from drinking water and is highly effective in reducing low levels of organic chemicals and THMs. Commonly used as a point-of-use purifier.
- Micron rating: 0.5 micron nominal, 1 micron absolute
- Reduces: Taste, odour, chlorine, THMs, organic chemicals, cysts
- Cyst removal: >99.9% (complies with AS/NZ 4348)
- Capacity: 75,000 litres
- Optimal flow rate: 7.6 LPM
- Maximum flow rate: 14 LPM
- Max temperature: 82°C
- Hygenic life: 6 months
SBPAC10 — 0.5 Micron Silver-Impregnated Bonded Powdered Activated Carbon
The SBPAC10 has the same specification as the BPAC10 but with silver impregnation to inhibit bacterial growth within the cartridge — extending the hygenic life to 12 months. A good choice where the system is used intermittently or where longer service intervals are preferred.
- Micron rating: 0.5 micron nominal, 1 micron absolute
- Reduces: Taste, odour, chlorine, THMs, organic chemicals, cysts
- Cyst removal: >99.9% (complies with AS/NZ 4348)
- Silver impregnated: Inhibits bacteria growth within the cartridge
- Capacity: 75,700 litres
- Optimal flow rate: 3.8 LPM
- Maximum flow rate: 14 LPM
- Max temperature: 82°C
- Hygenic life: 12 months

Important — First Use
After installation, run the filter for at least 5 minutes to flush carbon fines before using the water. Flush for 20 seconds before each use until the water runs clear.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which cartridge should I choose?
If you want a high-flow dual-purpose sediment and carbon filter and cyst removal is not a priority — choose the ACB10. It has the highest flow rate and longest online life before breakthrough. If you want fine cyst removal (Giardia and Cryptosporidium) on top of taste, odour, and chemical reduction, and you service regularly — choose the BPAC10. If you want the same performance as the BPAC10 but with a 12-month hygenic life — choose the SBPAC10.
Will it fit my housing?
Before ordering, measure the diameter of the cartridge you're replacing. Standard = 2.5". Jumbo = 4.5". These are not interchangeable — a Standard cartridge will not seat correctly in a Jumbo housing. This cartridge fits most 10" Standard (2.5") housings including Pentair, Puretec, Trevoli, and most other major brands. If you're unsure, get in touch before ordering.
How often do I replace it?
ACB10: replace when you can detect taste or odour returning to the water — capacity is 22,700 litres. BPAC10: replace at 6 months regardless of whether taste or odour has returned — hygenic life is the binding limit, not just capacity. SBPAC10: replace at 12 months — the silver impregnation extends the hygenic life. In all cases, replace sooner if taste or odour returns or if flow drops noticeably.
Does the BPAC10 or SBPAC10 protect against bacteria?
The silver impregnation in the SBPAC10 inhibits bacterial growth within the cartridge — it does not remove or inactivate bacteria already in the incoming water supply. For bacteria and virus protection in the water supply, UV disinfection is required.
What is the white residue when I first install the cartridge?
Carbon fines — fine carbon particles that flush out during initial use. Run the filter for at least 5 minutes and flush for 20 seconds before drinking. This is normal for all carbon cartridges.
What do the certifications mean?
WaterMark WMTS-103 (Lic. 22987) on the ACB10 means it has been independently tested and certified against Australian and New Zealand water industry standards. AS/NZS 4020 means it has been tested safe for use in contact with drinking water. AS/NZ 4348 on the BPAC10 and SBPAC10 covers domestic water treatment appliances — specifically the >99.9% cyst removal rating.
What warranty applies?
Filter cartridges are consumable items. If you receive a cartridge that appears damaged or defective on arrival, get in touch and we'll sort it out.
