Common questions
Is the Essence Plus III right for my home?
It's made for larger New Zealand homes on town (mains) water where chlorine taste, odour, sediment or heavy metals are a concern. For a smaller home or lighter use, the Essence III (10") covers the same three stages in a more compact format. On rainwater or bore water, a different system will suit you better.
How often do I change the cartridges?
Every 6–12 months, depending on your water quality and how much you use. More sediment means shorter cartridge life. The larger 20" format usually lasts longer than a 10" system in the same conditions. The Essence Plus III replacement kit has all three cartridges.
How is the Essence Plus III different from the Essence Plus II?
The Essence Plus II is a 2-stage system for sediment and chlorine. The Essence Plus III adds a KDF/GAC stage in the middle, which helps reduce heavy metals and adds another layer of chlorine reduction. On older pipes, or if you want more thorough treatment, the Essence Plus III is the stronger choice.
What does the KDF/GAC stage do?
KDF media works by chemical exchange to help reduce heavy metals such as lead and copper. The granular activated carbon handles chlorine and chemical tastes and odours.
Will it affect my water pressure?
The 20" Jumbo housings are designed to keep good pressure. Keep cartridges changed on schedule. A clogged cartridge is the most common cause of pressure drop.

The Waiora Essence Plus III, made by Waimana, is a three-stage whole-house filter for treated town water. It reduces chlorine, odour and common chemical contaminants, using 20" jumbo housings built for higher flow and busier households.
Water goes through a 1 µm polyspun sediment cartridge, then a 5 µm carbon block, then a GAC/KDF cartridge. The housings sit on a powder-coated steel bracket with 25 mm BSP stainless threaded ports, and a housing spanner is included. We recommend up to 85 psi (6 bar), with 125 psi (8.5 bar) as the maximum.
Change the cartridges every 6–12 months. The housings have a 3-year manufacturer's warranty.
