Choosing your configuration
Waiora Plus III — housing only
All three bowls ship empty. Choose this if you want to specify your own cartridge combination, or if you're replacing an existing setup.
Waiora Clarity Plus III — rainwater and tank water kit
Stage 1: 20 micron pleated sediment — catches coarse debris, dirt, and organic matter. Protects the stages downstream.
Stage 2: 1 micron polyspun sediment — removes fine silt and particles.
Stage 3: 5 micron carbon block — removes organic tastes and odours, including the earthy, flat quality common in tank water.
Waiora Essence Plus III — mains water kit
Stage 1: 1 micron polyspun sediment — removes fine particles, rust flakes, and grit from the mains supply line.
Stage 2: KDF/GAC — reduces heavy metals and chlorine. KDF media works through a chemical exchange process; granular activated carbon handles taste, colour, and odour compounds.
Stage 3: 5 micron carbon block — removes any remaining chlorine taste, chemical odour, and fine impurities before water reaches your taps.

How each stage works
Waiora Clarity Plus III — rainwater and tank water kit
Stage 1 catches the bulk of the debris — dirt, organic matter, and larger particles that collect in your tank. Starting coarse protects the stages downstream and extends overall cartridge life.
Stage 2 captures fine silt and particles that passed through Stage 1. By the time water reaches Stage 3, it's clear.
Stage 3 tackles the organic tastes and odours that sediment filters alone don't address — the earthy, musty character common in tank water.
Waiora Essence Plus III — mains water kit
Stage 1 removes the rust, grit, and fine sediment that enters from older mains supply lines. It also protects the KDF/GAC and carbon stages downstream.
Stage 2 addresses heavy metals and chlorine. KDF reduces metals that can leach from older pipework; the GAC layer handles taste, colour, and odour.
Stage 3 gives the water a final pass — removing any remaining chlorine taste and chemical odour before it reaches your taps.
Cartridge replacement
Replace all cartridges every 6–12 months depending on your water quality and usage. The 20" format extends cartridge life compared to 10" systems under the same conditions. The clearest signal for the carbon block is a return of taste or odour — replace it when taste returns, even if flow is still good.
Pairing with UV treatment
The Waiora Clarity Plus III prepares water for UV treatment. Clear, pre-filtered water is essential for UV to work effectively — the 20 micron and 1 micron stages ensure the water entering a UV unit is clean enough to treat. Get in touch if you want help configuring a complete rainwater system.

FAQ
Which configuration should I choose?
If you're on town (mains) supply and want to remove chlorine, heavy metals, and sediment, choose the Waiora Essence Plus III. If you're on tank or rainwater and want sediment removal plus taste improvement, choose the Waiora Clarity Plus III. If you want to build your own cartridge setup, choose the Waiora Plus III housing only.
Does the Waiora Clarity Plus III make tank water safe to drink?
The Clarity Plus III removes sediment, particulates, and organic tastes and odours. It does not treat bacteria or other micro-organisms. If you want to treat rainwater or tank water for drinking, a UV system added downstream is the recommended next step — get in touch and we can help you put together the right setup.
What does the KDF/GAC stage in the Waiora Essence Plus III do that carbon alone doesn't?
Carbon block is effective at reducing chlorine, taste, and odour. KDF media adds heavy metal reduction through a chemical exchange process — targeting lead, copper, and other metals that can leach from older pipes. The combination gives broader treatment than carbon alone.
Should this be installed before or after my pump?
Install it on the outlet side of your pump — after the pump, before the rest of the house. This protects your appliances and fittings downstream. If you need pre-pump protection, get in touch and we can advise.
Do I need bypass valves?
They're not included, but worth adding. Bypass valves let you isolate the filter during cartridge changes without shutting off water to the rest of the house. Ask us about adding a set when you order.
Do I need a plumber to install it?
For most customers, yes — a licensed plumber is the safest path. The set arrives fully assembled, uses standard 25mm BSP fittings, and mounts with the included hardware. If you're confident with household plumbing, the installation is straightforward. Get in touch if you're unsure.
How often do I replace the cartridges?
Every 6–12 months depending on your water quality and usage. The 20" format typically extends cartridge life compared to a 10" system. The carbon block's clearest signal is a return of taste or odour — replace it when that happens, even if flow is still good.
What warranty applies?
The housing set carries a 3-year warranty. Cartridges are consumable items and are not covered by warranty, but get in touch if anything arrives damaged or defective.
