How the system works together

Stage 1 — Coarse Sediment (Clarity Plus II)

The 20 micron polypleated filter removes larger particles, silt, and organic matter. The 20 inch format holds more sediment than a 10 inch cartridge, reducing the frequency of changes. Cleanable and reusable — rinse between replacements.

Stage 2 — Fine Sediment (Clarity Plus II)

The 1 micron polyspun filter removes fine particles and physically blocks Giardia cysts. Clear water at this stage is essential for effective UV treatment downstream.

Stage 3 — UV Treatment (UV 48W)

Water flows through the UV chamber where the 48W lamp treats it against bacteria, viruses, and microbes at a dose of 30 mJ/cm² at up to 45 L/min. The flow switch activates the lamp automatically when water moves and shuts it off when flow stops.

The sequence matters — sediment filtration before UV ensures clear water enters the chamber, which is what makes UV treatment effective.

Why Clarity Plus II over Clarity II

The Clarity Plus II uses 20 inch jumbo housings instead of 10 inch. More filter media means greater sediment holding capacity, longer cartridge life, and better performance at higher flow rates. It's the better choice for medium to large homes or properties with higher daily water demand. The matched 48W UV unit handles the higher flow rate of 45 L/min.

Bore water quality varies significantly from site to site. Maintenance

Clarity Plus II cartridges: replace every 6–12 months. The Stage 1 polypleated cartridge can be rinsed and reused between replacements — replace when it no longer recovers after cleaning.

UV lamp: replace based on usage. UV output degrades before the lamp visibly fails — replace on schedule and clean the quartz sleeve at each lamp change.

They address different things — filtration alone does not treat microbiological contamination, and UV alone cannot work effectively if the water is turbid or contains sediment. Together they provide comprehensive whole house treatment for tank and bore water.

Why choose the Clarity Plus II over the Clarity II bundle?

The Clarity Plus II uses 20 inch jumbo housings for greater filter capacity and longer cartridge life. The matched 48W UV unit handles a higher flow rate of 45 L/min — better suited to medium to large homes with higher simultaneous water demand. If you have a smaller household, the Clarity II + UV 33W bundle may be the better fit.

Why does the order matter?

UV treatment requires clear water. If sediment reaches the UV chamber, it blocks UV light from reaching micro-organisms — reducing or eliminating treatment effectiveness. The Clarity Plus II's two sediment stages ensure clean, clear water arrives at the UV chamber every time.

Does the 1 micron filter remove Giardia?

At 1 micron, the polyspun filter physically blocks Giardia cysts, which are typically 8–12 microns in size. UV treatment provides an additional layer of protection against microbiological contamination.

Is this suitable for bore water?

Do the two items need to be installed at the same time?

They can be installed together or separately. The Clarity Plus II filter system is installed upstream and the UV unit downstream — the UV unit should always be the last stage before water enters the home.

Do I need a plumber to install it?

We recommend a licensed plumber for both components. The Clarity Plus II uses standard 25mm BSP fittings and arrives pre-assembled with a housing spanner. The UV unit uses 25mm BSP and plugs into a standard 240V outlet.

What warranty applies?

Both items carry a 3-year manufacturer's warranty. Filter cartridges and the UV lamp are consumables and are not covered.
