Waimana Waiora Ultra II Whole House UV Water Filter System

Clean, filtered and UV-treated water throughout your home

The Waimana Waiora Ultra II is a high-capacity whole-house water filtration system designed for medium to large homes, lifestyle blocks and rural properties.

Two 20-inch jumbo filter housings remove sediment before the water passes through a powerful 48W UV chamber for microbiological treatment. With a flow rate of up to 45 litres per minute, the Ultra II is designed to deliver clean, filtered and UV-treated water to every tap while maintaining excellent flow throughout the home.

Suitable for mains, rainwater tank and bore-water supplies, the Ultra II combines efficient sediment filtration with powerful chemical-free UV protection for peace of mind every day.

The system arrives assembled on a heavy-duty wall bracket and connects using standard 1-inch / 25mm BSP fittings with a 240V power supply. The supplied Waimana literature confirms the 48W UV chamber, 45L/min flow rate and heavy-duty wall-mounted design.

Choose Your Configuration

Ultra II

The standard Ultra II features a compact design with the UV chamber mounted above the two filter housings.

This layout provides easy lamp access, efficient use of wall space and a tidy installation. It is designed for indoor or sheltered installations.

Ultra II Shield

The Ultra II Shield offers the same two-stage filtration, 48W UV treatment and 45L/min flow capacity while adding:

  • Protective cover
  • Pressure gauge
  • Suitable for indoor and outdoor installation

The pressure gauge makes it easy to monitor system performance. A drop in pressure is often the first indication that the filter cartridges are becoming loaded and ready for replacement.

Why Choose the Waiora Ultra II?

High flow for busy homes

With a maximum flow rate of 45L/min, the Ultra II is designed for medium to large households where multiple taps, showers and appliances may be operating at the same time.

Two-stage filtration before UV treatment

Water passes through two high-capacity sediment filters before entering the UV chamber, helping improve water clarity while ensuring the UV system is treating cleaner water.

Flow-Activated UV Technology

Unlike conventional UV systems that operate continuously, the Ultra II only powers the UV lamp when water is flowing.

This helps to:

  • Reduce electricity consumption
  • Extend UV lamp life
  • Prevent water warming inside the chamber
  • Operate only when treatment is required

It's a smarter and more efficient way to protect your household water. The flow-activated UV feature is highlighted throughout the supplied Waimana product information.

Chemical-free protection

The 48W UV chamber treats water against harmful microorganisms without adding chlorine or chemicals.

High-capacity 20" jumbo cartridges

Large 20-inch jumbo filter housings provide excellent sediment holding capacity while maintaining high water flow, making them ideal for larger homes and rural water supplies.

Built for New Zealand homes

Designed for:

  • Mains water
  • Rainwater tanks
  • Bore water
  • Lifestyle blocks
  • Medium to large family homes

Three-year manufacturer's warranty

The Ultra II is backed by a 3-year manufacturer's warranty covering the UV chamber, filter housings and workmanship.

How the Treatment Stages Work

Stage 1 — 20 Micron Polypleated Sediment Cartridge

Captures larger sediment, rust, dirt and suspended particles before they reach the finer filtration stage.

Stage 2 — 1 Micron Polyspun Sediment Cartridge

Removes finer sediment, silt and suspended particles down to 1 micron, improving water clarity before UV treatment.

Stage 3 — 48W UV Treatment

The filtered water passes through the 48W UV chamber, delivering 30mJ/cm² of UV treatment to help protect against harmful microorganisms without adding chemicals.

Best Suited For

The Ultra II is ideal for:

  • Medium to large family homes
  • Lifestyle blocks
  • Rural properties
  • Rainwater tank supplies
  • Bore-water supplies
  • Homes with multiple bathrooms
  • High-flow applications
  • Anyone wanting filtered, UV-treated water throughout the home

If your water has significant taste, odour or chlorine issues, a three-stage system with a carbon filter may be a better choice.

Installation

The Ultra II arrives fully assembled on its wall bracket for easier installation.

It connects using standard 1-inch / 25mm BSP fittings and requires a standard 240V power supply.

A licensed plumber is recommended. Isolation and bypass valves are also recommended to allow cartridge replacement without interrupting water to the entire property.

Connecting fittings and bypass valves are not included.

Maintenance

Routine maintenance is simple.

  • Replace filter cartridges approximately every 6–12 months, depending on water quality and usage.
  • Clean the quartz sleeve whenever the UV lamp is inspected.
  • Thanks to the flow-activated UV system, the lamp only operates while water is flowing. This can significantly extend lamp life compared with conventional continuously operated UV systems.
  • Replace the UV lamp according to its condition, performance and Waimana's servicing guidance rather than automatically replacing it every 12 months.
  • For bore-water supplies, we recommend testing your water before selecting any filtration system.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between the Ultra II and Ultra II Shield?

Both models provide identical filtration performance, UV treatment and flow rate.

The Shield adds a protective cover and pressure gauge, making it suitable for outdoor installation.

Is the Ultra II suitable for rainwater and bore water?

Yes. The Ultra II is designed for mains water, rainwater tanks and bore-water supplies operating within the specified pressure and temperature limits.

What does the flow-activated UV system do?

The UV lamp switches on only when water is flowing, reducing electricity consumption, extending lamp life and preventing water warming inside the chamber.

Does the UV lamp need replacing every year?

No.

Because the UV lamp only operates while water is flowing, it can last significantly longer than lamps used in conventional continuously operating UV systems. Lamp life depends on household water usage and should be assessed according to its condition, performance and Waimana's servicing recommendations.

Does UV add chemicals to the water?

No. UV treatment disinfects water without adding chlorine or any other treatment chemicals.

How often should the filter cartridges be replaced?

Typically every 6–12 months, depending on water quality and household water usage.

Can the standard Ultra II be installed outdoors?

No.

The standard Ultra II should be installed indoors or in a sheltered location.

Choose the Ultra II Shield for exposed outdoor installations.

Are bypass valves included?

No.

We recommend having your installer fit isolation and bypass valves to make future servicing quicker and easier.
